Der Unterschied zwischen Rettungs- und Schwimmweste
Rettungsweste:
Eine Rettungsweste ist speziell dafür konzipiert, eine Person im Wasser zu retten. Sie hat einen hohen Auftrieb und ist so gestaltet, dass sie eine bewusstlose Person automatisch in eine sichere Rückenlage dreht, sodass das Gesicht aus dem Wasser bleibt und die Person atmen kann. Rettungswesten sind in der Regel dicker und bieten mehr Auftrieb als Schwimmwesten.
Schwimmweste:
Eine Schwimmweste bietet ebenfalls Auftrieb und hilft einer Person, sich über Wasser zu halten, erfordert jedoch, dass der Träger aktiv schwimmen oder zumindest den Kopf über Wasser halten kann. Sie dreht eine bewusstlose Person nicht unbedingt in eine sichere Position. Schwimmwesten sind oft leichter und weniger sperrig als Rettungswesten und eignen sich gut für Wassersportarten wie z. B. Kajak-, Kanufahren, Standup-paddeln, Rudern oder Segeln.
