Descent: Legends of the Dark is not the third edition of Descent: Journeys in the Dark and is not compatible with Descent: Journeys in the Dark content despite being set in the same Terrinoth world.

Although Journeys in the Dark included the companion app Road to Legend, that game was always designed as a competitive experience, with one to four heroes playing against a single overlord. Legends of the Dark uses the integrated companion app to deliver cooperative play from the start, so you and your friends can focus solely on becoming the heroes of Terrinoth.

Game elements such as combat, fatigue, skills, items and more have been completely revamped with Legends of the Dark, while a new approach to scenario layout and 3D terrain creates striking multi-level scenarios.
