Sollten Sie eine außergewöhnliche Whiskyrarität in unserem Online Shop suchen, dann haben Sie mit dem 23 Jahre alten North Port aus der Reihe Rare Malts Selection vermutlich eine gute Wahl getroffen. Dieser Single Malt hat ein durchaus außergewöhnliches Aromaspektrum, das den erfahrenen Whiskygenießer überraschen kann. An der Nase machen sich süß-saure Zitrusfrüchte und ein Hauch von Weißwein bemerkbar. Untermalt von süßem Karamell und würzigem Honig, duftet dieser Malt eher trocken und etwas spröde. Umso mehr überrascht er mit einer schönen Süße am Gaumen, die mit einer Prise Muskat und Ingwer kontrolliert wird. Eine angenehme Würzigkeit und eine Kräuterwiese mit frisch geschnittenen Gras werden von den wieder auftauchenden Weißweinnoten untermalt. Das Finish ist lang, würzig, komplex. Im Jahre 1971 wurde dieser schottische Whisky destilliert und im Jahr 1995 wurde er in einzeln nummerierte Flaschen für die Rare Malts Selection abgefüllt.
Die Brennerei North Port wurde 1820 im schottischen Städtchen Brechin gegründet. Bis 1823 firmierte sie unter dem Namen Townhead Distillery. In diesem Jahr wurde sie in Brechin umbenannt. Seit 1839 soll sie ihren heutigen Namen North Port haben. Der Zeitpunkt dieses letzten Namenswechsels ist aber etwas umstritten. North Port wurde leider ein Opfer der Whiskykrise in den 80er Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts. Die Produktion wurde 1983 eingestellt und 1994 wurden die Gebäude abgerissen. Letzter Eigentümer war Diageo, der insgesamt vier Abfüllungen von North Port herausbrachte, davon drei in der Reihe Rare Malts Selection.
Die ersten Abfüllungen der Rare Malts Selection kamen 1995 auf den Markt. Alle Abfüllungen dieser Reihe sind nicht kühlgefiltert, in Fassstärke abgefüllt, mindestens 18 Jahre alt und als Small Batches nur limitiert verfügbar. Die Whiskys in der Reihe Rare Malts wurden von Brennereien ausgewählt, die geschlossen waren bzw. sind oder von denen es keine regelmäßigen Eigentümerabfüllungen gab und die unter der Regie von Diageo arbeiten bzw. arbeiteten.

These floating shelves are absolutely excellent quality. Everything from the packaging to the final product was top notch. The shelves arrived extremely well protected, and you could immediately tell the company takes pride in their product. The finish and craftsmanship are beautiful, the hardware feels solid, and installation was straightforward. Once mounted, they looked even better than expected and feel very sturdy. The golden oak finish adds a clean, modern, high end look to the room. Highly recommend if you’re looking for floating shelves that actually look and feel premium.

Clean Aesthetic, Limited Adjustment on Brackets

These shelves look really nice once installed—the natural wood finish gives a clean, high-end look that fits well with pretty much any space. Installation was straightforward and didn’t take much time, which I appreciated.
My only downside is the bracket design. I wish it had some kind of micro-adjustment option after drilling, because if your holes aren’t perfectly aligned the first time, it can be a bit frustrating to get everything level.
Overall though, still a solid product—sturdy, good quality, and definitely adds a nice aesthetic to the wall.

Having tried several shelves, this is by far the best product we have received. These shelves are real wood, well cut and prepared, with very easy installation and are quite stable. Love these shelves. Hanging them was incredibly simple. They came with a level to really help ensure they were straight. Directions were precise and easy to understand. Took me longer to decide where and how I wanted to place them than it did to hang them. Literally took me 5 minutes to actually hang both shelves. They are smooth, easy to dust and look amazing in all lighting. They are packaged well so I had no missing pieces and no damage. Super strong hold and I love that the bottom of each shelf has a screw to secure the bracket to the shelf so they don't fall. Where I live, that is a major plus because we have a train that comes through regularly and they haven't loosened a bit. Super pleased with this product.
