Die Gattung Rhapis ist in Südchina und Taiwan beheimatet, wurde aber speziell für Innenräume kultiviert. Der Name rhapis stammt aus dem Griechischen und bedeutet 'Nadel', während 'excelsa' lateinisch für 'hoch' ist, was unserer Meinung nach das Aussehen ziemlich gut beschreibt. Halte sie mit indirektem Licht und Feuchtigkeit bei Laune.
