Besonderheiten: Dieser Mortlach 2008/2025 wurde nach 17 Jahren in einem erstbefüllten Bourbonfass abgefüllt und vereint den kraftvollen Charakter des "Beasts of Dufftown" mit der hellen Fruchtigkeit und weichen Süße der amerikanischen Eiche. Die Abfüllung ist auf 207 Flaschen limitiert und wurde von Andrew Symington persönlich ausgewählt. Abgefüllt wurde der Whisky mit einem Alkoholgehalt von 53,8% Vol.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nase: Intensive Aromen von getrockneten Früchten, darunter Datteln und Feigen, begleitet von einer leichten Vanillenote und einem Hauch von Eichenholz.
  • Gaumen: Vollmundig und komplex mit Noten von Zartbitterschokolade, Muskatnuss und einer subtilen Würze, die an Pfeffer erinnert.
  • Abgang: Lang anhaltend mit einer angenehmen Wärme und einem Nachklang von gerösteten Nüssen und einer leichten Rauchnote.

Destillerie/Abfüller: Mortlach, gegründet 1823, ist eine der ältesten Brennereien in Dufftown, Schottland. Bekannt für ihre komplexe 2,81-fache Destillationsmethode, produziert sie Whiskys mit einem einzigartigen Charakter. Die Abfüllung wurde von Signatory Vintage, einem renommierten unabhängigen Abfüller, unter der Reihe "Symington's Choice" abgefüllt.

UPDATE 2: The vendor proactively reached out to me and sent me a replacement. The replacement works well so I’ve given them 5 Stars. UPDATE: It really doesn’t ever go in straight so every cork is at risk for breaking off. I lowered rating to two. It ultimately works about 85% of the time. Meh. Works most of the time, but has issues. It wrecks corks much more often than the Brookstone one we had before. It seems to twist in sideways so that it runs along the glass of the bottle neck instead of straight down. This causes it to destroy the corks fairly frequently… and on occasion it destroys it so much that you can’t get the cork out at all. Pros: Quiet Has the bottle sealers and suction. Recharges on base. Cons: Damages corks Sometimes destroys corks to point of not being able to extract them. Goes in crooked.
