"Auf Sand Gebaut" vereint Songwriter-Pop mit Chanson, Rock, Jazz sowie World und schafft mit dem HipHop-Pionier Jan Delay als Fan und Mentor im Rücken einen tiefgehenden Einblick in das aktuelle Lebensgefühl der Generation Y. 2015 als Film- und Theater-Musik-Student von Gerd Baumann mit den Multiinstrumentalisten Nils Wrasse (Mark Forster), Sam Hilton, Robin Jermer (Beide Ark Noir) sowie Flurin Mück (Dreiviertelblut) bekannt gemacht, wurde direkt an der ersten EP "Die Blaue Katze" und folgend an dem von der Presse hochgelobten Album "Dazwischen" gearbeitet. Nach sechsstelligen Streamingzahlen, einem Berlinale-Film-Soundtrack und Auftritten auf einigen großen Festivals ("Theatron Musiksommer" oder "Obstwiesenfestival") wurde die Formation 2020 mit dem von der HannsSeidel- Stiftung verliehenen "Nachwuchsförderpreis für junge Liedermacher" ausgezeichnet. Über zwei Jahre hat Florian Paul an seinem zweiten Studioalbum "Auf Sand gebaut" gearbeitet - jetzt ist es endlich da. Zusammen mit seiner Die Kapelle Der Letzten Hoffnung wird ein eigener Popentwurf irgendwo zwischen "Element of Crime" und "Faber" mit einer beeindruckenden musikalischen Bandbreite kreiert. Immer wieder zieht der Sound mit massiven Bläsern auf Cinemascope und verrät, dass die Band zum Großteil aus Filmkomponisten besteht. "Auf Sand gebaut" ist ein Gesamtkunstwerk, das sehr gut tut in Zeiten von immer belangloseren Deutschpop Singles. Diese Musik hat etwas zu sagen - und will gehört werden.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
