Steve Neal, Vater des BTCC-Fahrers Matt Neal, fuhr 1968 und 1969 regelmäßig Rennen in einem Mini Cooper Morris in der BSCC (Car Championship Colombia Saloon – dem Vorläufer der BTCC). Nachdem er für die Cooper Car Co. gefahren war, gewann Neal 1969 einen Sitz in einem Morris Mini Cooper S-Team mit zwei Autos. Zusammen mit seinem Teamkollegen Gordon Spice und dem Britax-Cooper-Downton-Team machte Neal bald die Firma zu Gelb und Schwarz minis der Liebling der Rennsportfans.
