It does the three things you need a chair like this to do — rolls over a standard toilet, works as a shower chair with a handheld sprayer, and functions as a bedside commode — without unnecessary complexity. At 13.25 lbs it's light enough for a caregiver to reposition easily. The bucket slides in and out from the side without lifting the patient or raising the seat. The four 4" casters lock with a foot pedal. That's the chair.
The padded seat is easy to wipe clean. The backrest attaches with a screwdriver in about five minutes — the chair arrives otherwise fully assembled. The rear seat support bar sits at 18.5" — this clears most standard residential toilets (15–17" seat height) and most comfort-height toilets (17–19"). Measure your toilet seat height from the floor before ordering. The chair's overall width is 22.75", which fits around standard toilet bowls. If you have an unusually wide or tall toilet, call us to confirm fit before ordering.
Does the bucket remove without moving the patient?
Yes — this is a design feature Nova specifically built into the 8800. The bucket slides out from the side of the chair without requiring the caregiver to lift the patient or raise the seat. It reduces disruption during emptying and is one of the details that separates this chair from cheaper rolling commodes where bucket removal is awkward.
Does this chair have footrests?
No — the 8800 does not include footrests. If swing-away removable footrests are needed, the Nova Medical Deluxe Shower Chair and Commode includes them as standard. Call us if you're deciding between the two.
Can it be used as a standalone bedside commode without rolling over the toilet?
