PSB Imagine T65 Tower Speaker (Pair) at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The Imagine T65 is a 3-way floorstanding tower speaker from PSB Speakers (Pickering, Ontario, Canada), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Launched as part of PSB's revamped Imagine Series in 2023, the T65 is the flagship model in the line, drawing directly from technology developed for the prestigious Synchrony and PWM Series. It features a 1" titanium dome tweeter with ferrofluid neodymium magnet, a 5.25" woven carbon fiber midrange driver in its own sealed chamber, and dual 6.5" woven carbon fiber woofers in individually tuned bass-reflex enclosures, delivering a rated frequency response of 28Hz to 23,000Hz. With a nominal impedance of 8 ohms and 88dB anechoic sensitivity (90dB in-room), the T65 is an authoritative yet accessible floorstander for both dedicated two-channel listening and home theatre.

Linkwitz-Riley Crossover and Driver Architecture

The PSB Imagine T65 employs a fourth-order acoustic Linkwitz-Riley crossover topology, the same network design found throughout PSB's higher-tier Synchrony Series. The woofer-to-midrange handoff occurs at 600Hz, and the midrange-to-tweeter transition at 2kHz, both using fourth-order slopes that minimize phase shift and maintain phase coherence across the critical crossover regions. The 5.25" midrange driver is tuned and isolated in its own sealed chamber, decoupling it from the woofer cavities to prevent resonance contamination and preserve tonal clarity in the 200Hz to 2kHz band where the human ear is most sensitive. Each of the two 6.5" woofers occupies its own individually tuned chamber, each vented by a dedicated letterbox-slot rear port, resulting in deeper, tighter bass output than a shared-cavity design would allow. The titanium dome tweeter derives its neodymium magnet and ferrofluid damping architecture from the flagship Synchrony line, delivering smooth high-frequency extension to 23kHz with controlled directivity and high power handling through the crossover region.

Dual Bass-Reflex Design and Cabinet Engineering

The T65's cabinet is a well-braced MDF enclosure measuring 8.4" wide by 40.5" tall by 13.9" deep, with aluminum outrigger feet, floor spikes, and protective pads included for stable, resonance-free placement on any surface. The dual rear slot ports, a design approach shared with PSB's PWM Performance Wall Mount Series, are positioned at staggered heights on the rear baffle: one near the base and one approximately 40cm higher. This arrangement, combined with individually tuned woofer chambers, allows each bass driver to load its port independently, extending usable low-frequency output to a rated -10dB point of 19Hz without the chuffing noise that often accompanies conventional round ports at high output levels. The slim cabinet profile and aluminum trim rings around each driver give the T65 a refined, architectural appearance that integrates naturally into living spaces. Finish options are Satin Black and Satin White, with a large acoustically transparent magnetic grille included.

Key Features

  • 1" Titanium Dome Tweeter with Ferrofluid Neodymium Magnet: Derived from PSB's flagship Synchrony Series, this tweeter delivers effortless high-frequency extension to 23kHz with smooth, uncolored response through the critical crossover region and robust power handling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the PSB Imagine T65?

The PSB Imagine T65 is a 3-way floorstanding tower speaker, the flagship model of PSB's Imagine Series, built by Canadian loudspeaker manufacturer PSB Speakers in Pickering, Ontario. It features a 1" titanium dome tweeter, a 5.25" woven carbon fiber midrange in a sealed chamber, and dual 6.5" woven carbon fiber woofers in individually tuned bass-reflex enclosures, with a rated frequency response of 28Hz to 23,000Hz and 88dB anechoic sensitivity. The Imagine Series launched in 2023 and sits between PSB's entry-level Alpha Series and the flagship Synchrony Series, inheriting driver technology and crossover topology from the top of the PSB lineup.

How does the PSB Imagine T65 compare to the Polk Audio Reserve R700 or Klipsch RP-8000F II?

The PSB Imagine T65 occupies a distinct engineering philosophy compared to both the Polk Audio Reserve R700 and the Klipsch RP-8000F II. The T65 uses a fourth-order Linkwitz-Riley crossover with a dedicated sealed midrange chamber, prioritizing phase coherence and low coloration across a three-way driver array. The Klipsch RP-8000F II relies on a horn-loaded tweeter for high efficiency and forward, dynamic presentation, while the Polk Reserve R700 uses a planar magnetic tweeter for a different high-frequency character. The PSB T65's dual individually tuned bass-reflex chambers extend bass to a rated 28Hz without the port-sharing compromises of simpler designs. For listeners seeking a neutral, research-informed sound rooted in NRC-influenced loudspeaker science, the T65 is the stronger candidate among the three.

Can the PSB Imagine T65 be used in a home theatre system?

Yes, the PSB Imagine T65 is fully suitable for home theatre use. Its wider-than-average vertical dispersion window benefits listeners seated at varied distances and heights in multi-seat home theatre arrangements, and its dual bass-reflex design delivers the low-frequency extension needed to reproduce cinematic bass without a subwoofer in smaller rooms. The T65's dual five-way binding posts support bi-amplification, allowing home theatre processors with dedicated bass management to drive the speaker optimally. It pairs directly with PSB's PWM Series center channel and surround speakers for a cohesive, timbre-matched multi-channel system.

What is the Linkwitz-Riley crossover design used in the T65?

A Linkwitz-Riley crossover is an acoustic filter topology that combines adjacent driver outputs with flat amplitude response at the crossover frequency and a consistent phase relationship across the transition. In the PSB Imagine T65, fourth-order Linkwitz-Riley slopes at 600Hz and 2kHz ensure that the woofers, midrange, and tweeter sum acoustically into a coherent output with minimal lobing or frequency-response aberrations at the crossover points. This is the same network architecture PSB employs across its Synchrony flagship Series, and it is why the T65 maintains consistent tonal balance both on-axis and at moderate listening angles.

What amplifier power does the PSB Imagine T65 require?

The PSB Imagine T65 is rated for amplifiers delivering between 20 and 200 watts into its 8-ohm nominal impedance. Its 88dB anechoic sensitivity means it produces adequate listening levels with modest power, and PSB's own documentation confirms that as little as 20 watts is sufficient for typical room use. The most important amplifier characteristic is comfortable current delivery into the 4-ohm impedance minimum, which rules out very low-powered single-ended tube amplifiers but makes the T65 compatible with virtually all integrated amplifiers and AV receivers in the mid-tier and above, including models from NAD Electronics, Arcam, Cambridge Audio, and Rotel.

Can the PSB Imagine T65 be bi-wired or bi-amplified?

Yes, the PSB Imagine T65 supports both bi-wiring and bi-amplification. Each speaker is fitted with dual five-way gold-plated binding posts, and gold-plated jumper bars are included for standard single-wire connection. Removing the jumpers and running separate cable runs to the high-frequency and low-frequency posts allows bi-wiring, which some listeners find beneficial for perceived separation and dynamics. True bi-amplification, using two separate amplifier channels per speaker, is also supported and can be useful when pairing the T65 with a home theatre processor that offers independent channel assignments.

Sunscreen is great, I would t recommend the chapstick
Style: Original
Sun Bum is hands down the best sunscreen I’ve ever used. It smells incredible, like a tropical vacation with that perfect coconut scent. It goes on smoothly, doesn’t leave you feeling sticky or greasy, and actually works! As long as I reapply every few hours, I don’t get burned, which is more than I can say for most other sunscreens I’ve tried. The face stick is good, goes on easily, but is a little greasy feeling. I do not like the chapstick, I can’t keep the taste of it out of my mouth and I feel like you have to put it on again and again.

Great Mineral Facial Sunscreen
Size: 1.7 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This is the best mineral facial sunscreen I’ve used. It comes out as a thin lotion that spreads easily. I have used two other brands and considered a brand that was expensive before trying this. I liked baby bum mineral 50 sunscreen lotion for the body and decided to give this a try. I like sun bum products. They tend to make effective products that are not too expensive. The zinc oxide mineral facial sunscreen I was using slightly irritated my skin and felt heavy like a mask after applying. It left a greasy residue on my face. This sun bum facial mineral sunscreen is non-irritating and feels very light like a chemical-based facial sunscreen. It leaves no residue on the skin. I prefer zinc oxide mineral sunscreen because it’s natural, safe and effective. Some zinc oxide mineral sunscreens put a white caste on the skin after application. The titanium dioxide and zinc oxide blended mineral sunscreens are worse due to the titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide is a bright-white powdered substance, and I have not experienced any product with this ingredient that doesn’t appear white on the skin and cannot be blended. This sun bum zinc oxide mineral facial sunscreen has no white caste. Like another reviewer, I also hope that sun bum continues to make this facial mineral sunscreen indefinitely. It’s the best I’ve ever tried and at an excellent price point. If you like mineral sunscreens due to the health and environmental concerns with chemical-based sunscreens, try this before trying more expensive mineral facial sunscreens.
