Our Jacobs Field Stadium Series Baseball Story & Inspiration

Jacobs Field replaced Municipal Stadium on the lake as part of the Gateway project with Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse – then the Gund Arena – and promised a downtown resurgence.

For 13 seasons, the ballpark was known as Jacobs Field, or "The Jake." The stadium cost $175 million to build. The naming rights were sold to Progressive Insurance in 2008 for $3.6 million per year for 16 years, giving rise to the stadium's current moniker, Progressive Field.

Jacobs Field has provided the community with many wonderful memories, including hosting the All-Star Games in 1997 and 2019, as well as the World Series in 1995, 1997, and 2016. From June 12, 1995, to April 4, 2001, the Indians' dominance in the mid to late 1990s resulted in 455 consecutive sellouts at the ballpark. I'm not kidding when I say that the field was nearly perfect back then.

      Not that great
Huge "The Simpsons" fan. I watched all the episodes and read a lot of the comics and enjoy most. This one however was quite boring. Turns out I'm just not a big fan of Chief Wiggum. I really enjoyed The "Homer" and "Bart" book. But not this one. Maybe if you love Wiggum you'll love it. If you're not too fond of him then I wouldn't buy it.

      Good for my collection.
      Format: Hardcover
This was another quick and entertaining read. This instalment wasn't as enjoyable as some of the other books but it was still good. I'm glad to have it in my collection.

      Funny and unexpected
      Format: Hardcover
I bought this book for my girlfriend who is a big Ralph Wiggum fan. When it arrived, I was shocked to see what a thorough exploration of the character it was. I'm not saying it's all canon in terms of the show, as i saw some complaints that there was stuff in this book that wouldn't make sense to the Ralph character (such as his love for Lisa) due to them "breaking up" in a past episode, but come on, that's a hogwash complaint. The whole point of this book is to entertain, and it does so in spades, so it comes highly recommended. And this is coming from a huge 'The Simpsons' fan himself. Oh, and by the way, my girlfriend loved it, too.
