The Blackmagic Design Spares - Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 (PCC6KG2) - LCD Replacement Kit is the specific screen module for the second-generation 6K. While it looks identical to the 6K Pro screen, it is a high-performance, $1,500\text{nit}$ HDR touchscreen designed to handle high-visibility outdoor filming without the need for a sun hood.

Kit Components

A standard factory replacement kit typically includes:

  • The 5-inch LCD Panel: The high-brightness, capacitive touchscreen assembly.

  • The Integrated Ribbon Cable: The high-bandwidth data flex cable that carries the video signal and touch-input data.

  • Glass Shield: The bonded protective outer layer (usually pre-installed as a single laminated unit with the LCD).

Why the 6K G2 Screen is Unique

The 6K G2 marked a significant departure from the original Pocket 6K design:

  1. High-Nit Output: At $1,500\text{nits}$, this screen draws significantly more power than the original 4K/6K screens.

  2. Tilting Mechanism: The screen is housed in a separate articulating "bucket." This means the ribbon cable is constantly under mechanical stress as the screen is tilted up or down.

  3. Laminated Construction: The touch layer and the display are bonded together to reduce internal reflections, making it more visible in direct sunlight but also meaning you must replace the whole unit if just the top glass cracks.

When to Replace the LCD

  • Impact Damage: Cracks in the glass that distort the image or cause "dead zones" in the touch sensitivity.

  • The "White Screen" or Flickering: Often a sign that the internal ribbon cable has frayed or partially detached from its seat due to repeated tilting.

  • Backlight Failure: If you can see a faint image when shining a flashlight on the screen but it doesn't "glow," the high-voltage backlight driver or the LEDs within the panel have failed.

  • Touch Unresponsiveness: If you can see the image but cannot navigate the menus, the digitizer layer has lost its connection.

Technical Installation Note

Replacing the LCD on a 6K G2 is a Level 3 repair because of the delicate articulation points.

  • Ribbon Routing: This is the most critical step. The cable must be threaded through the metal hinge assembly. If there is a "kink" or the cable is twisted during installation, the screen will work initially but fail within a few weeks of tilting.

  • Hinge Tension: You will likely need to adjust the friction screws on the hinges while the screen is disassembled. Ensure they are tight enough to hold the screen's weight but loose enough to move smoothly.

  • ZIF Connector Safety: The connector on the Main PCB side is extremely fragile. Use plastic tweezers to open the lock. Never pull the cable until the locking bar is fully raised.

  • Adhesive Seals: Some kits come with a perimeter adhesive gasket. This is vital for preventing dust from getting trapped behind the bezel after the repair is complete.

Expert Advice: If your screen is only flickering when you move it, you might be able to save money by just replacing the LCD Flex Cable rather than the entire panel. However, if the screen shows "bleeding" colors or black spots, a full kit replacement is mandatory.

Are you seeing physical cracks in the glass, or is the screen simply staying black when you turn the camera on?

The Epson F170 has been ideal for getting started with sublimation. It's easy to use, prints vibrant and defined colors, and has allowed me to personalize various projects with excellent results. As a beginner, it has given me a lot of confidence to learn and create without complications. I definitely recommend it for anyone starting out in sublimation.

No returns and no support. If it doesn't work properly, too bad.
Style: Printer & Inks, Style: Printer & Inks
I was fairly happy with my Epson ET 2800, but was told that I'd get better colors with the F170. So I bit the bullet. The installation went smoothly and I was printing in short order. It was when I started printing items that had some dark gray that I noticed the problem. It was printing green. I contacted Epson tech support and they answered the phone almost immediately. (And how rare is that??) The woman I spoke with seemed to be familiar with the problem and advised me to modify the printer preferences and change the color correction from "ICM" to "No color correction". Well, it wasn't printing green anymore. Now the grays were brown. At this point, she ran out of ideas and gave me an email address for the second level of tech support and asked if I'd send a photo of the printed fabrics showing the problem. I did. That was over three weeks ago. I've sent a couple of followup emails, but they're ignoring me. But the best news was discovering that there are no returns on this product. I didn't think that was a thing with Amazon and I've never had any problems before. So now the 30-day return window is about to elapse and it appears that I'm stuck with an oversized doorstop. In the photo I'm including with this review, the fabric on the upper-left was printed with my Epson ET 2800. On the upper right, the F170 with ICM color correction. On the bottom, the F170 with no color correction.

Epson SureColor F170 Sublimation Printer Rocks!
Style: Printer & Inks, Style: Printer & Inks
TI’m a newbie at sublimation, and this is my first sublimation printer. I love it! I can’t wait to make more things! I like that it’s not too large, but still can print up to 8.5x14”. The quality seems to be really good, but I also don’t have any other printer to compare it to. This was my very first project! I’m very happy with it so far!
