From the time they established formal ties with Great Britain in 1730, the Cherokees had a rocky relationship with white settlers. They found grounds for dispute over trade practices, territorial control, and the complicated loyalties among the various Indian tribes and European powers. Over the years, the Cherokees struggled to maintain their ancient traditions as the tribe was assimilated into the white man's culture. Cherokee Voices uses the participants' own words to tell the story of early Cherokee life. The selections were gathered from journals, treaty records, and correspondence written by Cherokees or by Europeans or Americans who knew them. The excerpts begin with the 1730 visit of Alexander Cuming, who appointed an "emperor" for the Cherokees. Touching on matters as varied as the Cherokees' oral tradition, their village life, their ball games, their treaties with white settlers, their famous Cherokee Phoenix newspaper, and their education in Christian mission schools, the chapters take readers from when the Cherokees were dependent on European trade to when they became self-sufficient farmers and tradesmen. Unlike most books about the Cherokees, written in the third person by authors who lived years after the events, this one recognizes that no one can speak more eloquently of their lives, trials, and customs than the people themselves.

Vicki Rozema is the author of Footsteps of the Cherokees: A Guide to the Eastern Homelands of the Cherokee Nation and Voices from the Trail of Tears. The first edition of Footsteps of the Cherokees received an Award of Merit from the Tennessee Historical Commission in 1996. Also an acclaimed photographer, she is a history professor at the University of Tennessee.

Really Cool
This is actually a well made portafilter. It was such a good idea to be able to have a nice WDT tool built in that doesn’t take up some extra counter space or anything. It minimizes clutter and just was a good idea so you always have it handy. Definitely would recommend.

Fine basket, lousy magnets: Look elsewhere
Build is nice, solid and the baskets fit snuggly without being too hard to remove. The WDT tool works well and came with a surfeit of needles. HOWEVER The tiny magnets holding the WDT in the handle aren’t glued in place and now come FLYING out when the tool is removed. One or two pull free and then shoot across the unit, pulling others out and ending up somewhere in the kitchen. Fortunately (because they’re REALLY small), they form a small column making it somewhat easier to track down. But it’s such a nuisance I now leave the tool out, so there’s a small dangerous hedgehog of verrrry thin needles in my kitchen we need to work around. Sub-optimal, sorta defeats the purpose of in-handle tool.

Unlock your machine's potential
***Twist the WDT tool to remove dont try to just pull, or use your finger nails A slight twist will break the magnetic bond and the tool just comes out of the handle*** i got this to get away chemicals, hot acidic coffee possibly leaching plastic and aluminum that the stock portifilter is made from. This seems like a nice stainless by the looks and heft of it. Aluminium is bad for the brain and plastic is just bad. Function... Im not using a 200$ or more grinder or anything... Just fresh beans and a 30$ wancle amazon burr grinder and this is pulling beautiful bottomless shots that really helped me dial in better and see my channeling issues that intern lets me adjust and get better. The stock tapered basket prevents consistant tamps and keeps you from using off the shelf filter papers at the bottom of the basket. i have to use a gram or 2 more for my dose but that just means stronger drinks. I can tell visually im getting more extraction now that im dialed in by the color after adding milk.

It doesn’t even fit
It doesn’t fit our Breville Barista Pro because the portafilter head is too tall. Such a disappointment. Update: Absolutely horrible customer support as well. Their only attempt to rectify the situation was by double checking their own portafilter they have and confirming it works. It’s equivalent of “we investigated ourselves and found nothing wrong.” No replacements, no willingness to accept constructive criticism in order to change the dimensions slightly by decreasing the height of the portafilter head by even a millimeter to make it work, nothing. Just a slap in the face telling me to return it and be gone. Avoid this product.
