Dr. William G. von Peters has transliterated the text into modern English. Its copious marginal notes and voluminous annotations make it a superb study bible with references from the Apostles, Fathers of the Church and Saints. The Douay Rheims Bible was not produced for sectarian reasons but to present the true Word of God to the English people, and so it is called a ÒslavishÓ, i.e., literal, translation; rather than one which seeks to sugar coat, gloss over, or hide the real text and meanings. Its copious marginal notes and voluminous annotations explaining the Bible text, make it a superb study bible. It contains references from the Apostles, Fathers of the Church and Saints, giving the text a ready insight into the dogmas and teaching of the Church from the time of Christ to the present. This edition is the Red Letter edition.
