The Blackmagic Design Cable - Din 1.0/2.3 to BNC Female (Manufacturer SKU: CABLE-DIN/BNCFEM) is a specialized pigtail adapter cable designed to bridge high-density micro-video ports with standard, field-ready coax cables.

Measuring exactly 20 cm (7.9 inches), this cable features a miniaturized DIN 1.0/2.3 Male connector on one end and a full-sized BNC Female barrel (jack) on the other. It acts as an extension adapter, allowing you to feed any pre-existing, standard male-to-male BNC cable directly into compact Blackmagic hardware without stacking rigid metal barrels that strain structural connection points.

The Advantage of the Female BNC End

While the male-terminated version of this cable forces a direct point-to-point link between a device and a monitor, the BNC Female variant is prized for multi-camera rigs and field deployments.

Instead of routing custom, fragile mini-coax runs all the way across a set, you simply click this 20 cm dongle into your camera or capture card. It exposes a durable, standard female BNC interface right on your camera cage or DIT rack. From there, you can connect common, high-gauge, long-distance SDI lines that you already own, acting as a structural shield for the internal electronics.

Primary Video Workflow Uses

This adapter cable is an essential maintenance accessory for specific Blackmagic Design products engineered around miniature high-density connectivity footprint layouts:

1. PCIe Capture Cards (DeckLink Quad 2 & Duo 2)

To fit up to eight independent SDI video channels onto a single PCIe computer bracket, Blackmagic relies on highly dense rows of DIN 1.0/2.3 jacks. This cable breaks those tight clusters out into standard female BNC couplers, allowing you to mount the PCIe card and route standard camera feeds straight into the back of your server.

2. First-Generation Video Assist (5-inch)

The original HD-SDI and 6G-SDI 5-inch Video Assist monitors used mini-DIN ports rather than full-sized BNC rings. Using this female adapter allows camera assistants to mount the monitor to a gimbal or rig and tap directly into pre-run camera umbilical snakes.

3. Legacy Micro Studio Camera 4K & Micro Cinema Lines

Early generations of Blackmagic’s miniaturized remote studio cameras packed their SDI In, Out, and reference lines into a tight grouping of DIN ports to minimize chassis weight.

Technical Specifications Matrix

Feature Specification
Connector A DIN 1.0/2.3 Male (Push-Pull Quick Disconnect)
Connector B True 75 Ohm BNC Female (Socket / Barrel)
Physical Cable Length 20 cm / 7.9 inches
Impedance Threshold Strictly 75 Ohms to eliminate timing jitter and data phase errors
Max Bandwidth Validation Fully rated for SD-SDI, HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, and up to 6G-SDI video streams
Coaxial Core Build Sturdy, thick-shielded flexible precision coax line

Handling and Disconnection Protocol

⚠️ Do Not Twist the DIN End: Unlike the BNC Female end which accepts a quarter-turn twist-lock from an incoming cable, the miniature DIN 1.0/2.3 end uses a pure linear push-pull mechanical lock.

  • To Mount: Push the mini-DIN straight onto the equipment sleeve until you hear a clear click. The spring-loaded collar locks automatically.

  • To Unmount: Grip the sliding outer metal shroud of the DIN connector and pull it cleanly straight back. This pulls back the teeth holding the port. Never yank on the cable wire or the rubber strain-relief boot, or you will snap the internal conductor pin away from the shielding wall.

Item Package Quantity: 6
Bought these protectors for shipping rare cards I sell online. They do NOT snap together! for my purposes I use a little tape to hold it closed so the buyer gets an undamaged card in the mail. works perfectly for my use.

Great slab!
Item Package Quantity: 2, Item Package Quantity: 2
These slabs are excellent but yes they don't clip together The top and bottom piece are not made to snap together. My solution was to slide the slab into a tightly fitting slab sleeve and boom, a perfect alternative to a graded card. We even made a custom label for a gift for grandpa.

Garbage, these don't close properly
Item Package Quantity: 2
These are defective. They don't close seal properly whatsoever. If you intend the handle the card, move it around at all, these will damage your nice cards. Do not buy if quality and protection is what you need.

Great Value - Use the right adhesive and they are crystal clear
Item Package Quantity: 48
These are generally pretty good. Some have rough edges from the mold, but there's not too many in the pack that are like that. Each come shipped in a bag. DO NOT USE GORILLA GLUE IMPACT TOUGH SUPER GLUE to seal these. They cloud the plastic. I used JB WELD LIGHT ACTIVATED and it worked perfectly. Model glue probably works too, but I haven't tried that yet. Less is more.

Great Cases for Cards
Item Package Quantity: 12, Item Package Quantity: 12
These were great for what I wanted them for. I like the look of having a card slabbed with a label but sending to the big grading companies is expensive. I was able to Slab wrestling cards, and sports cards. I even did one of my garbage pail kids. These are not designed to just snap together and do require some plastic adhesive or glue. Not a bad price for what I needed them for.
