To avoid complications and discomfort, it's crucial to follow the steps below when trimming thickened toenails:
- Soak your feet in warm water for 5 to 10 minutes to soften the nails. Once done, dry your feet and toenails thoroughly with a towel.
- Get a pair of VIVA’s cantilever nail nippers. These are heavy duty and easy to grip and control, making them perfect for trimming thickened toenails. However, be cautious, as nail nippers can be very sharp.
- Commence cutting at the nail's corner and make gentle, straight snips across the entire toenail. Avoid rounding the edges, as this increases the likelihood of developing an ingrown toenail.
