The camera features a Hybrid CMOS AF II system, integrating phase-detection and contrast-detection autofocus for increased focusing speed and accuracy. It supports continuous shooting at 4.6 fps and an ISO range of 100–12800 (expandable to 25600), maintaining image quality across various lighting conditions.

The EOS M2 records Full HD 1080p video at 30/25/24 fps, with full manual exposure control and stereo sound.
