Honest Jon's Records present a reissue of Derek Bailey & Han Bennink, originally released in 1972. The third release in a series of collaborations between Honest Jon's Records and Incus: three double-LPs of the legendary free-improvising guitarist Derek Bailey, solo (HJR 200LP) and in duos with Anthony Braxton (HJR 201LP) and Han Bennink, augmenting the original releases with marvelous, previously unissued music. The tussling vegetables in Mal Dean's cover-sketch somehow befit perfectly this extraordinary duo of Bailey and the great Dutch drummer Han Bennink. Recorded in London in 1972, Incus 9 was their second record (after an Instant Composers Pool in 1969), becoming a blueprint and inspiration for generations of free-improvisers. It is paired here with a brilliant session from the following year, with the same power and friendly combativeness, and oodles of creativity, technique, and humor. It's obvious how much they loved playing together. Newly transferred from tape at Abbey Road, and remastered by Rashad Becker. The records are manufactured by Pallas.

Dr. Jeremiah can't be beat

Dr. Jeremiah is always solid on the Bible. Our small group chose to use this as a study tool. Some were pleased some were perplexed. It seemed that during the pandemic his publisher told Dr. Jeremiah he had to get a book out so he put this together. It seemed on the lame side. As we went along in it, it became clear that, in our opinion, he was directing this more at the non-Christian or brand new Christian. Mature Christians may find lacking at least at first, about half way through it picks up depth and relies more heavily on Biblical truth. He uses Christians and non-Christians in his "real life" examples and some times you're not sure if they are Christian, did they become Christian as a result of their experience? This is a great book for the right person.

Beautiful Retelling of the Christmas Story
Format: Hardcover
I've really appreciated reading from The First Nations Version over the last couple of years, and I'm excited for this book to make it easier to share with a younger audience! One of the things I appreciate about the FNV is how well it flows as a story, and this picture book is no different. It transitions smoothly from the Luke portion to Matthew. The illustrations are lovely watercolors and give me new imagination for Jesus coming for all people. I already bought copies for my nephews, and I'm looking forward to giving them to them for the Christmas season.
