Irish singer-songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan's 19th studio album since his 1971 debut Himself feels in some ways a kindred spirit to that record, which yielded his first hit, the poetic and powerful breakthrough "Nothing Rhymed." It's organic, almost live feel is encouraged by new, acclaimed producer Ethan Johns and the songs sail on the perennial O'Sullivan strengths of evocative tunes and wry insight. It was recorded on analogue equipment at O'Sullivan's Forbisher Drive Studios, in easy-going sessions with players hand-picked by Johns while guests include Andy Fairweather Low (guitar), Chas Hodges (piano) and Geraint Watkins (piano - Van Morrison, Nick Lowe). The resulting album is a collection of some of the finest songs Gilbert has ever written and recorded. Ranging from the melancholy charm of "At The End Of The Day" and "I'll Never Love Again" to the brisk, buoyant "Penny Drops," "What Is It About My Girl" and Ethan's favorite, the rollicking "This Riff." There are musings on ageing and mortality, and also, of course, crisp comic touches, something Gilbert attributes to his love of Spike Milligan.

Mom says they have been working so far for that bloated feeling
As of late she's been getting more discomfort and these have been helping her with indigestion. They seem to be working as intended but of course she will continue to use them for a longer period so that hopefully those symptoms she was having reside. She likes that it overall helps support metabolism and balances the gut. The natural ingredients are a plus. Doesn't have to worry about any GMO's and additives. After the bottle runs out I'll probably buy another for her since they seem to help her upset stomach.

Video lectures, just as the subtitle promises
I was seduced into buying this set on the basis of NT Wright's reputation and advertising graphics showing Holy Land locations. Consequently, I didn't pay sufficient attention to the subtitle: "The New Testament in Its World: Video Lectures." And "lectures" is exactly what this set delivers. Talking heads, lecturing on the New Testament; sometimes in a studio, sometimes in eastern Mediterranean locations.
The content is solid evangelical biblical scholarship. My disappointment is the almost complete lack of engagement with the spectacular settings much of these films are shot in. It seems to me that Wright and his producers missed a real opportunity by failing more explicitly to relate their lecture content to the places where they're standing.
I give this set a three-star rating. The lectures are a perfectly fine introduction to the New Testament, if that's what you're looking for -- but you could put them on CDs or MP3s and listen in the car. The graphics add very little to these presentations.
