Description

The True Principles of the Single SwordIn the second half of the seventeenth century, the rapier commonly became lighter and shorter, with a smaller hilt, and eventually developed into the smallsword, also known as the court sword. Often, this development is associated with France, and the court of its King, Louis XIV. It is to this King that La Touche boldly dedicated his treatise, "Les Vrays Principes de l'Espe seule", in 1670, and it is this treatise that could be seen as the first work

In the second half of the seventeenth century, the rapier commonly became lighter and shorter, with a smaller hilt, and eventually developed into the smallsword, also known as the court sword. Often, this development is associated with France, and the court of its King, Louis XIV.

It is to this King that La Touche boldly dedicated his treatise, "Les Vrays Principes de l'EspŽe seule", in 1670, and it is this treatise that could be seen as the first work to show how fencing evolved to accommodate the changing weapon.

In this work, Reinier van Noort and Antoine Coudre present the first ever English translation of La Touche's "Vrays Principes", providing a fascinating view on the development of fencing in France at a time when the rapier gave way to the smallsword.

Very comfy
Size: X-Large, Color: White
I'm a size US Mens 14 with huge calves. Finding comfortable crew socks can be somewhat difficult. These are extremely comfortable, very stretchy and soft. Very worth the price.

I use these exclusively for when I'm hiking, cycling and walking ( exercising )
Size: X-Large, Color: Black
5.7.2019 Update: I have probably five packs of 3 of these socks. Can't explain it but recent pairs I've been using have lasted longer than previous two packs ( 6 socks )... So I'm going to get some more... They are my #1 go to sock for cycling, hiking, climbing, walking ( serious, training, speed, distance )... 10.30.19: I use these exclusively for when I'm hiking, cycling anqd walking ( exeqrcising )... They are light, comfortable, keep feet dry, cool & comfortable... They don't shift around on feet. They stay put once put on and running, climbing or cycling shoes are put on and laced up or ratched... I do a lot of hill climbing and also use on terrain where there's lots of long periods ( hours ) going up & hours going down... They don't appear to be very durable, get holes in toe or holes in heels, but 3 pack is relatively inexpensive so I continue to buy them. I do not use them for everyday casual wear because they would wear out very quickly compared to other similar sockets...
