What Is a TV Backlight Driver Board?

LCD panels don't emit light themselves — they require a backlight behind them. In older LCD TVs, this was a CCFL tube. In LED TVs, LED strips arranged in rows provide the backlight. A constant current driver board provides the precise regulated current each LED strip needs. When this board fails, symptoms include: picture visible only with a flashlight (backlight totally off), flickering backlight, partial black areas, or TV that turns on briefly then goes dark.
