Our shadow self is the part of us that we often barely want to acknowledge, let alone show or admit to anyone else; but ironically enough, the more we try to act like it doesn't exist, the darker and bigger our shadow becomes, thus consuming then swallowing us whole. More than depriving us of healthy relationships with others, refusing to confront, work through and with our shadow can deprive us of having a healthy relationship with ourselves - and the former cannot exist without the latter. Shadow Work is about being extremely honest with ourselves, acknowledging, confronting, and working through all of the open wounds that need healing, so that we can stop bleeding all over ourselves, the people we love, and the people we're going to want to build healthy relationships with in the future.

Is the work easy? No.

Will it be worth it, though?

Absolutely.
