Knifemaking has always been an immensely popular hobby in the USA, even before the TV series “Forged in Fire” increased its popularity exponentially. But how does one begin this hobby without taking a course? Paul White’s highly praised book, FORGED,  is an answer.

“This book is a must read for up-and-coming knifemakers.” Lee Crawford, Professional knifemaker and winner of the Naval competition in TV’s “Forged in Fire” in the tournament of the Military Branches..

This book will teach you to hand build a knife using the traditional method of blacksmiths of old — FORGING.

Traditional forging of a knife blade is a process which uses the ancient techniques of moving hot steel with hammer and anvil alone into a knife-form that is ready for filing, heat treating and sharpening with no or very minimal electric grinding.

This book also teaches traditional fit-and-finish skills using only hand tools. It explains an ancient riveted full-tang handle construction system that surpasses modern methods.

In the author's words; "In my early blacksmithing years, I was lucky to get to know some old smiths who wrangled hot iron every day just to make a living. They unselfishly taught me traditional blacksmithing skills and knife forging methods. Every time I use those skills and methods, I honor their friendships, and by teaching you, the reader, we keep alive the memory of those old-time iro- pounders."

Nice brackets

The brackets look great and fit a 1x12 board perfectly. They've been installed for a few days and seem to be sturdy. So far, the only negative is the hardware, as other reviewers have mentioned. Initially, I had some trouble locating the stud and decided to use the drywall anchors. I got one bracket installed and the anchor was already pulling out of the wall. Overall, I think the brackets are great, but just use your own screws and drywall anchors (if needed).

Well made. Sturdy.

I bought these for an alcove. The brackets came in great condition. I didnt notice any scratched. Mounting… the brackets are not centered on the wall, but are centered on the studs. I cant do anything about the stud placement. I bought a 2x8x10 board and cut it into 40 in sections. After placing the brackets on the wall the boards fit beautifully in place. (I used the long stud screws that came with the brackets) I havent screwed the boards to the wall (those screws also included) and may not. I like being able to pull a board out and run cables behind, if needed. I think the boards are sturdy enough that I wont have an issue with tipping, since the right most stud is at the corner of the wall.

Great for the price

This 10" Shelf Brackets come with all different kind of hardware to install. For drywall, concrete, wood, very smart idea from the seller. You don't have to run to a hardware store for that. I thought it was fantastic idea to help the customer. The Brackets look very strong and finish is great.

Very heavy duty shelf brackets. Good quality.
Size: 9.25 Inch, Number of Items: 6
When they say Heavy duty they mean it!! These brackets are very strong. I would use them to hold a large shelf maybe even one that is wide like 4 inches. Not suitable for what I was envisioning. I just need a simple lightweight shelf and this is way to heavy. Will need to attach to stud or use an anchor. I should have paid closer attention to the description. These come with different types of anchors and one even says it can be used on brick. I believe it.
