THE Inspiral Carpets - along with the Stone Roses and the Happy Mondays - made their name as part of the whole 'Madchester' scene, with a string of classic singles and a lucrative line in iconic T-shirts. Between 1989 and 1995, the band notched up 15 hits and four Top 20 albums. In 2003, they re-formed and have been playing live ever since. In 2011, they reunited with original singer Stephen Holt. In September, the band unveil their first new album of studio material for two decades, simply entitled Inspiral Carpets. The album was recorded over the past year or so in Airtight Studios, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, south Manchester and has been mixed by Jim Spencer (The Charlatans, etc.). The album is fanfared by a brand new single, 'Spitfire', which is released at the end of August. The record also includes their previous Record Store Day single 'You're So Good for Me'. Another of the LP's highlights is the garage punk opus 'Let You Down', which boasts an amazing and unique cameo by special guest and legendary punk poet John Cooper Clarke! Both single and album will be supported by a media-wide campaign embracing TV, online, radio, press (national and regional) and social media.

You're a chump
The most unique thing about Malcolm X is he never wrote anything, he simply spoke the truth and that alone has proven to withstand the tides of time because his words are still fresh as ever. His speeches always find a way to get to your spirit and makes you rethink the world you are living in. After reading this book, i forget which speech it was exactly, he mentioned something about negores not knowing their history and it was up to them to go forth and reconnect with their homeland. This led me to wonder where I came from. Even though I am not black, I felt as if he was speaking directly to me and this is the kind of power he had. he made you look upon yoyurself and force yourself to ask, "Who am i? And Do I really hate myself?" Racism is still an issue in this country. It has not gone away and malcolm X was never afraid to point out the hypocrisy of the system I was taught to honor and defend. Surely, not one the best books on his speeches out there, but nonetheless powerful enough to get you thinking about the injustice we face everyday. A man who taught you how to be a human being in the end of his life. Today, more than ever his words should never be forgotten.

Malcolm speaks from the heart
"If George Washington didn't get independence for this country nonviolently, and if Patrick Henry didn't come up with a nonviolent statement, and you taught me to look upon them as patriots and heroes, then it's time for you to realize that I have studied your books well..." Malcolm X It is statements like this that make me love reading about Malcolm X. His intelligence, charisma and courage emanate from his words. He inspires, challenges and provokes his listeners to change their thinking. Not only does he challenge others, but he challenges himself to constantly analyze, to constantly evolve. Malcolm X Speaks is an excellent read, from cover to cover. If you want a good idea of where Malcolm was heading before his untimely death, this is the book.

A beautiful mind
Malcom had the capacity to express his ideas in such an eloquent and smart way. This book is proof of that. I'm studying this great human being and now I consider this an essential book for anyone, any race, any place or gender that are looking to open their minds. Definitely a must read for any person.
