Globalized Islam: The Search for a New UmmahThe spread of Islam around the globe has blurred the connection between a religion, a specific society, and a territory. The spread of Islam around the globe has blurred the connection between a religion, a specific society, and a territory. One-third of the world's Muslims now live as members of a minority. At the heart of this development is, on the one hand, the voluntary settlement of Muslims in Western societies and, on the other, the pervasiveness and influence of Western cultural models and social norms. The revival of Islam among Muslim populations in the last twenty years is often wrongly perceived as a backlash against westernization rather than as one of its consequences. Neofundamentalism has been gaining ground among a rootless Muslim youth--particularly among the second- and third-generation migrants in the West--and this phenomenon is feeding new forms of radicalism, ranging from support for Al Qaeda to the outright rejection of integration into Western society. In this brilliant exegesis of the movement of Islam beyond traditional borders and its unwitting westernization, Olivier Roy argues that Islamic revival, or "re-Islamization," results from the efforts of westernized Muslims to assert their identity in a non-Muslim context. A schism has emerged between mainstream Islamist movements in the Muslim world--including Hamas of Palestine and Hezbollah of Lebanon--and the uprooted militants who strive to establish an imaginary ummah, or Muslim community, not embedded in any particular society or territory. Roy provides a detailed comparison of these transnational movements, whether peaceful, like Tablighi Jama'at and the Islamic brotherhoods, or violent, like Al Qaeda. He shows how neofundamentalism acknowledges without nostalgia the loss of pristine cultures, constructing instead a universal religious identity that transcends the very notion of culture. Thus contemporary Islamic fundamentalism is not a single-note reaction against westernization but a product and an agent of the complex forces of globalization.Binding Type: Paperback

An all-around great, light moisturizer
The scent is citrus-y but it is very, very light; it dissipates completely within minutes. I use this only in the daytime, on top of C E Ferulic. It leaves a slight dewiness, like a subtle nacre of a pearl, which I happen to like. It is not so shiny that it accentuates fine lines. I go outside with a mirror under the sun and assess how products affect the appearance of my skin texture, and this product passes. The bottle is just over 3 ounces, which is generous and enhances value. I put Biore Watery Essence SPF 50 over the Peaches, and they work extremely well together. They kind of bond to each other and the dewiness is still mild. I sweat a lot in the summer on my face, so I wonder how Peaches will perform. But I think it can't get any better for a truly lightweight, gentle moisturizer. Very pleased with this purchase.

Wonderful formula, questionable packaging?
Trying to find a moisturizer for my combination skin and so far so good! Very light weight and not sticky. Has a very light citrus smell but not bothersome. Will probably continue to purchase because my skin seems to respond well to this company’s products.
I don't like that the product looks… empty or used upon opening my package. The tube just feels half empty… opened it and there’s a seal so I guess it wasn’t used. Just wish they filled the tube or something.

Feels refreshing, but not for super sensitive skin
I wanted to love this, but my rosacea prone skin is just too sensitive for it. Pretty sure it has caused some minor break outs, as well. A blemish or 2 seem to pop up shortly after using (I really haven’t had much of a problem lately with blemishes, and this is the only thing that had changed in my skin care routine). It also may be making my rosacea flare more, making my face appear redder. It feels great going on, very refreshing, but I did notice the tiniest bit of stinging, which tells me it is irritating my super sensitive skin. The smell is ok, but not as amazing as some made it out to be. I don’t think my skin would tolerate using it daily, I currently only use it once a twice a week, before bed. I love how cooling it is. It is great for layering under, when you need a little boost of hydration and is great for summer. It is on the much lighter side, as far as hydration goes, being that it is a gel.

Amazing!
I found this item online as a possible dupe to farmacy honey halo due to some matching ingredients. I have sensitive skin and prone to closed comedones. This is a fantastic moisturizer and definitely will be my new go to.
