On January 7th, 2022, the day before David’s birthday, TOY (TOY:BOX) will receive its long awaited official release, finally making the legendary previously unreleased album available in three CD / six 10” vinyl versions.

TOY was recorded following David's triumphant Glastonbury 2000 performance. Bowie entered the studio with his band, Mark Plati, Sterling Campbell, Gail Ann Dorsey, Earl Slick, Mike Garson, Holly Palmer and Emm Gryner, to record new interpretations of songs he’d first recorded from 1964-1971. David planned to record the album ‘old school’ with the band playing live, choose the best takes and then release it as soon as humanly possible in a remarkably prescient manner. Unfortunately, in 2001 the concept of the ‘surprise drop’ album release and the technology to support it were still quite a few years off, making it impossible to release TOY, as the album was now named, out to fans as instantly as David wanted. In the interim, David did what he did best; he moved on to something new, which began with a handful of new songs from the same sessions and ultimately became the album HEATHEN, released in 2002 and now acknowledged as one of his finest moments.

Now twenty years after its originally planned release, David’s co-producer Mark Plati says, ""Toy is like a moment in time captured in an amber of joy, fire and energy. It’s the sound of people happy to be playing music. David revisited and re-examined his work from decades prior through prisms of experience and fresh perspective - a parallel not lost on me as I now revisit it twenty years later. From time to time, he used to say ‘Mark, this is our album’ - I think because he knew I was so deeply in the trenches with him on that journey. I’m happy to finally be able to say it now belongs to all of us.”

Available in 3CD or 6x10” vinyl formats, TOY (TOY:BOX) is a special edition of the TOY album. The ‘capture the moment’ approach of the recording sessions are extended to the sleeve artwork designed by Bowie featuring a photo of him as a baby with a contemporary face. The package also contains a 16-page full-colour book featuring previously unseen photographs by Frank Ockenfels 3.

The seeds of TOY were first sown in 1999 during the making of an episode of VH-1 Storytellers. David wanted to perform something from his pre-‘Space Oddity’ career, so he reached back to 1966 and dusted off ‘Can’t Help Thinking About Me’ for the first time in thirty years. The song remained in the setlist for the short promotional tour for the ‘hours…’ album, and in early 2000 David and producer Mark Plati compiled a list of some of Bowie’s earliest songs to re-record.

TOY finishes with a new song from which the album takes its title, 'Toy (Your Turn To Drive)’ was constructed from a jam at the end of one of the live takes of ‘I Dig Everything’. The track is based around rearranged sections of Sterling Campbell's drums, Gail Ann Dorsey's bass and sections of Mike Garson’s piano were looped along with a guitar line of Earl Slick’s that was sampled, time stretched and used as a repeating figure. Lastly, some of Holly and Emm’s backing vocals from the body of ‘Dig Everything’ were cut up and reassembled. Producer Mark Plati ""As it was culled from ‘I Dig Everything’ it makes sense to bookend the album with this track - it’s also a fitting postscript to the TOY era”.

Included in TOY:BOX is a second CD/set of 10”s of alternative mixes and versions including proposed B-Sides (versions of David’s debut single ‘Liza Jane’ and 1967’s ‘In The Heat Of The Morning’), later mixes by Tony Visconti and the ‘Tibet Version’ of ‘Silly Boy Blue’ recorded at The Looking Glass Studio time at the of the 2001 Tibet House show in New York featuring Philip Glass on piano and Moby on guitar.

The third CD/set of 10”s features 'Unplugged & Somewhat Slightly Electric’ mixes of thirteen TOY tracks. Producer Mark Plati ""While we were recording the basic tracks Earl Slick suggested that he and I overdub acoustic guitars on all the songs. He said this was a Keith Richards’ trick, sometimes these guitars would be a featured part of the track, and at other times they’d be more subliminal. Later while mixing, David heard one of the songs broken down to just vocals and acoustic guitars; this gave him the idea that we ought to do some stripped-down mixes like that and that maybe one day they'd be useful. Once we put a couple of other elements in the pot, it felt like it could be a completely different record. I was only too happy to finish that thought some two decades after the fact.”

Just okay
Format: Kindle
This is the second book from this duo I’ve read. And I just can’t get into it. Like Cassie Cole books. Sasha Moon is new to me. This book has a decent storyline. Intrigue. Exotic places. Dangerous underworld. Tessa is plucked from her waitressing job to nanny for Damien. The billionaire art mogul and his 2 friends. They are deep into a new project that they call the Legacy Collection. She’s whisked around the world as she Nanny’s for the billionaire. My problem is that I just do not like Tessa. She’s quickly inserting herself into business she knows nothing about. Creeping around places she shouldn’t be and the billionaire and his security is okay about it. A slight talking to and that’s all. I like a strong female character, but she was often a brat. She just wasn’t likable to me. She was tolerable once they arrived in Greece, but I was too far gone at that point. Good level of spice. The scenes were hot. The guys were likable. Overall, I couldn’t wait to finish it but I found myself often putting off picking it up

Great Story!!
Format: Kindle
This was a great story however, it did seem a little short. Maybe a little rushed, but that could also be because I wanted a little more development of the characters as a family :). Also, I love how this story doesn’t seem like there are two different authors! Whew :). I love that!!! The only real criticism I have is that there are too many characters with names that start with the letter “T” and it makes reading the story a little confusing.

reverse harem with heart and a HEA
Format: Kindle
Author duo Sasha Moon and Cassie Cole delivered a well written reverse harem romance read in Billionaire's Nanny. Our female lead Tessa starts as a server at an event and meets a sweet lil girl Tabitha. Damian is Tabitha's father and after the event all he hears about it Tessa and so, in his billionaire style shows up unannounced to offer Tessa a job as Tabitha's nanny that she can't refuse. Damian may be the beginning but there is also Theo, head of security and Nico, chauffeur and chef. These three go everywhere together. I love how our authors introduce us to the art world, exotic places traveled. They weave together the heat and sweet so well and I love that there is a storyline with mystery, heart just as much as the heat the characters bring. A wonderful HEA is to be had as well! A really good read! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

So many plot twists and turns!
Format: Kindle
In Billionaire's Nanny, Tessa is a catering waitress. While working an event, she encounters Tabitha, a precocious 6 year old who is bored and seeking her own form of entertainment when left to entertain herself at her father's event. Taking the child under her wings and keeping her out of trouble, little does Tessa know that with that simple act, the trajectory of her life will forever be altered. Damian is Tabitha's father. He's wildly successful in the art world and a billionaire. Theo is his body guard and head of security, while Nico is his chauffeur (of any form of transportation that moves) and personal chef. The three travel everywhere together. Damian is out to right the wrongs of the previous generations of his family. He wants his daughter to be proud of her legacy and he will do anything to ensure that she has this opportunity, even if it requires lying, stealing and riding the fine line between what is morally and legally right and wrong. In order to do this, he desperately needs the help of someone he trusts to watch over his daughter. Tabitha won't stop talking about Tessa and the time they spent together at the event. Without notice, Damian shows up on Tessa's doorstep and orders her to join them as Tabitha's nanny. Needing the money to help care for her siblings, Tessa agrees. What ensues is a quest for Tessa to learn who to trust. There is an air of mystery continually surrounding the three men that leaves Tessa feeling uneasy. Secretive meetings and phone calls. Continually jet setting from country to country. Locked vaults and rooms depicted on doll houses as nothing more than empty spaces. Who are these men? Are they good guys or bad? Tessa struggles with her growing feelings as she finds herself equally attracted to them all. As each man spends more time with Tessa and finds himself intrigued by her, each wants her for himself. These are three alpha males all vying for pole position in Tessa's heart. Little do they know, Tessa isn't interested in having only one in pole position. For her, it's all or nothing. Will they be able to give up ultimate control and learn to share? Authors Sasha Moon and Cassie Cole have done it again! This is an extremely well developed novel. Normally I am quick to determine the plot and the direction it's taking. If there's a mystery in a plot, I've usually solved it by 25% of the way into the book. The plot of this book was hard to guess, which is actually what makes this book so fantastic! I love the twists and the turns; the hint at explanations without actually not explaining much of anything at all. LOL It kept me engrossed and wanting to know what the heck was going on. The authors did a fabulous job of slowly dispersing tidbits of plot weaving intrigue and mystery throughout the entire length of the book. This book kept me focused the entire time I was reading it. I love that Tessa is a strong female lead. She isn't afraid to back down or ask questions when things don't make sense. She also has a soft side that just wants to be loved and to feel affection. She is like a mollusk, hard on the outside yet soft on the inside and in her heart. As much as she would like to trust, she has learned that you cannot blindly trust. So she asked questions. She watches. She tries to determine if her employer Damian is truly an individual that is upstanding and one whom she can trust with her life and her heart. The three men in the story are harder for the reader to get to know, especially Damian's character. The author slowly feeds you information with regards to their personalities, but even with the air of mystery surrounding them, there's something likeable about each of them. I couldn't help rooting for them all to get their HEA. This book is an absolute definite must read!
