More than any other artist, Walker Evans invented the images of essential America that we have long since accepted as fact, and his work has influenced not only modern photography but also literature, film and visual arts in other mediums. The original edition of American Photographs was a carefully prepared letterpress production, published by The Museum of Modern Art in 1938 to accompany an exhibition of photographs by Evans that captured scenes of America in the early 1930s. As noted on the jacket of the first edition, Evans, "photographing in New England or Louisiana, watching a Cuban political funeral or a Mississippi flood, working cautiously so as to disturb nothing in the normal atmosphere of the average place, can be considered a kind of disembodied, burrowing eye, a conspirator against time and its hammers." This seventy-fifth anniversary edition of American Photographs, made with new reproductions, recreates the original 1938 edition as closely as possible to make the landmark publication available for a new generation. American Photographs has fallen out of print for long periods of time since it was first published, and even subsequent editions--two of which altered the design and typography of the book in small but significant ways--are often available only at libraries and rare bookstores. This version, like the fiftieth-anniversary edition produced by the Museum in 1988, captures the look and feel of the very first edition with the aid of new digital technologies.Walker Evans (1903-1975) took up photography upon his return to New York in 1927, following a year in Paris when his aspiration to become a writer withered in the shadow of Fitzgerald, Hemingway and Joyce. In 1935, Evans was commissioned by the Farm Security Administration to photograph the effects of the Great Depression in the Southeast. During this time he took many of the photographs that appeared in his collaboration with James Agee, Let Us Now Praise Famous Men (1941), a book which has become a defining document of that era. Evans joined the staff of Time magazine in 1945 and shortly thereafter became an editor at Fortune, where he stayed for the next two decades. In 1964, he became a professor at the Yale University School of Art, where he taught until his death in 1975.

Perfect if you're anything like me
Color: White, Size: 2 Layer
I have about 20 small jewelry boxes sitting in my closet, stacked up high, threatening to topple over any time I reach over them to grab something else. I don't know what's in those boxes, except that it's jewelry I purchased and liked well enough to keep so that I could wear it again. But since all of the pieces are closed up inside, I almost never wear them because I don't want to dig through all 20 boxes to find the 1 thing I want when I'm already almost late to wherever I'm going.
If ANY of that sounds anything like you, you need this jewelry box. Is it the most premium thing you've ever seen? No, but does it have a lot of storage space for a pretty compact form factor and hold a ton of stuff? Yes, it totally does. And is the price super reasonable? Yes, it is. And if you kind of squint at it, and look through softer eyes, it doesn't really matter that yes, this is kind of cheaply constructed, and the dividers do move around a little bit because they're not anchored to the sides of the trays.
I was able to consolidate all of those jewelry boxes down into this one box, and I no longer need to hold my breath when I try to grab something over the top of the pile because I was able to throw. them. all. out! The satisfaction of purging my own personal leaning tower of Pisa was worth the price alone.
But onto the nitty gritty details: yes, the see-through part is acrylic and not glass. I'm okay with that because I don't need more breakable things sitting in my closet. Yes, the dividers aren't super stable. I'm okay with that because they work well enough and keep each piece where it belongs. Yes, it's pleather (aka "vegan leather"). I'm okay with that because I don't need cow hide to hold my jewelry to make it feel more precious, especially because most of my jewelry is pretty inexpensive stuff anyways. I don't notice any glaring cosmetic defects when looking at it, aside from the one very squiggly scratch in my acrylic top that doesn't bother me too much, but since it does mean that quality control may be a bit lacking, this gets a very solid 4 stars.

Elegant Jewelry Box
Color: Pink, Size: 2 Layer, Color: Pink, Size: 2 Layer
Very stylish and elegant jewelry box suitable for your jewelry needs. I needed something for my extensive jewelry collection. I use this for my everyday jewelry, and it works perfectly. I chose the two-tier jewelry box, and I love how sturdy it is. You can put a lot in the box without it being overcrowded. The blush color gives it a soft look, but also the compartments on the inside are soft as well. It is of good quality and a value for what you get.
