So, How Long Have You Been Native? is Alexis C. Bunten's firsthand account of what it is like to work in the Alaska cultural tourism industry. An Alaska Native and anthropologist, she spent two seasons working for a tribally owned tourism business that markets the Tlingit culture in Sitka. Bunten's narrative takes readers through the summer tour season as she is hired and trained and eventually becomes a guide.A multibillion-dollar worldwide industry, cultural tourism provides one of the most ubiquitous face-to-face interactions between peoples of different cultures and is arguably one of the primary means by which knowledge about other cultures is disseminated. Bunten goes beyond debates about who owns Native culture and has the right to "sell" it to tourists. Through a series of anecdotes, she examines issues such as how and why Natives choose to sell their culture, the cutthroat politics of business in a small town, how the cruise industry maintains its bottom line, the impact of colonization on contemporary Native peoples, the ways that traditional cultural values play a role in everyday life for contemporary Alaska Natives, and how Indigenous peoples are engaging in global enterprises on their own terms. Bunten's bottom-up approach provides a fascinating and informative look at the cultural tourism industry in Alaska.

same toy after all these years
Pattern Name: Skunk
i bought this toy from burlington coat factory 7 years ago for my dog when he was a puppy, he recently lost it at the park and this was a perfect replacement. took 2 weeks to arrive but he would say it’s worth it.

Annoying sound but DOGGY TOY JOY!!
Pattern Name: Skunk
My 14 month old is squeaker OBSESSED, but she easily does surgery and defluffs. However this toy has been perfect. The sound when you shake is over the top and creates so much excitement. She loves to chase and chew this and play tug with this, and no tears from tug or points where she's tried to excise squeaker so far!

Great toy loved by 3 big dogs
Pattern Name: Skunk
We have a black lab and 2 grandpups (a Great Dane and a Cane Corso) that visit regularly. All 3 love this toy. All 3 destroy toys pretty quickly, sometimes within minutes. I have no idea what it is about this one, but they have not even remotely destroyed it except for major slobber damage from being so loved. I bought the first one months ago from TJ Maxx and then bought another on here thinking it could be a replacement when the first one got destroyed. The first one has yet to be destroyed. It sounds like there is a water bottle inside of it but it is some kind of coil thing. That being said, this toy can be very annoying to listen to, but we tolerate it for 3 very happy dogs.

Not for us, unfortunately.
Pattern Name: Chipmunk
Cute idea. We have doxies. Unfortunately, they ripped the apart in 5 minutes to get to the squeaker. I'm sure other breeds are more gentle with their toys. It would be a great toy for them.

Very durable
Pattern Name: Chipmunk
Our dog loves this "squeaky." He got it as a gift 11 months ago and I finally had to replace it because he almost had the head and tail chewed off -- took him about a year of chewing. I almost hated to throw the old one away because the squeakers still worked! Our dog is small -- about 22 lbs. -- but is a terrier mix and loves playing tug-of-war with this Zippy toy and he also loves shaking it like crazy. It's a great value compared to the toys I find in the local pet stores. Most of those "die" because he punctures them with his teeth so they no longer squeak. This one is well worth the price.
