From there it is her own story, from about 1920 until about about 1980.
This first volume includes the story of her grandparents, Johanna Verbrugge and Jacob Vriens. How Jacob perished in a shipwreck, leaving her to raise their four children on her own. From there, it takes us up to about the time her own mother and father met each other and were married.
