The Elegant and Timeless 'Giverny' Vase by René Lalique

A magnificent and museum-quality 'Giverny' vase by René Lalique (1860-1945), the most celebrated glass artist of the Art Deco period. Standing 28.5 cm tall, this exceptional piece showcases Lalique's mastery of crystal glass, featuring a classic baluster form with circumferential floral decoration in relief. Executed in colorless crystal glass with partial satin finish and polished surfaces, and signed 'Lalique R France' engraved on the bottom, this vase represents French Art Deco glass art at its finest. The 'Giverny' design, named after Claude Monet's famous garden village, embodies the timeless elegance and naturalistic beauty that made Lalique's work legendary.

René Lalique - Master of Art Deco Glass

René Lalique (1860-1945) stands as one of the most important figures in 20th-century decorative arts. Beginning his career as a revolutionary Art Nouveau jeweler, Lalique transitioned to glassmaking around 1910 and created an entirely new aesthetic vocabulary for the Art Deco period. His vases, sculptures, perfume bottles, and architectural elements combined technical innovation, artistic vision, and commercial success in unprecedented ways. Lalique's work is represented in every major decorative arts museum worldwide, and his pieces command premium prices at international auctions. The 'Giverny' vase represents one of his most successful and enduring designs.

The 'Giverny' Design - Homage to Monet

The 'Giverny' vase takes its name from the village where Claude Monet created his famous gardens and water lily paintings. This connection to Impressionism and French cultural heritage adds poetic resonance to the design. The circumferential floral decoration in relief captures the abundance and natural beauty of Monet's gardens, translating botanical forms into the geometric clarity and stylized elegance characteristic of Art Deco aesthetics. This synthesis of naturalism and stylization demonstrates Lalique's genius for creating designs that are simultaneously timeless and distinctly of their era.

Classic Baluster Form

The vase's baluster shape - swelling body tapering to narrow base and neck - represents one of the most elegant and enduring forms in ceramic and glass history. Lalique's interpretation of this classical form demonstrates his sophisticated understanding of proportion, balance, and visual harmony. The baluster shape provides perfect canvas for the circumferential floral decoration while creating graceful silhouette that works beautifully in any setting. This combination of classical form and Art Deco decoration exemplifies Lalique's ability to honor tradition while creating distinctly modern objects.

Circumferential Floral Decoration in Relief

The vase features floral motifs arranged in continuous band around the body, executed in relief that creates three-dimensional texture and visual interest. The relief decoration, achieved through molding during the glass-forming process, creates interplay of light and shadow that changes as viewing angle and lighting conditions change. The floral elements are stylized in characteristic Art Deco manner - recognizable as flowers while transformed into decorative pattern through simplification and geometric organization. This relief work demonstrates Lalique's complete mastery of glass molding techniques and his understanding of how three-dimensional surface treatment enhances overall design.

Colorless Crystal Glass - Material Excellence

Executed in colorless crystal glass, this vase demonstrates Lalique's mastery of this demanding material. Crystal glass, with its exceptional clarity, brilliance, and light-refracting properties, requires complete technical control to work successfully. The colorless crystal allows the form and relief decoration to be primary focus, with light playing across surfaces to reveal contours, textures, and details. Lalique's choice of crystal for the 'Giverny' design emphasizes the vase's elegant form and delicate floral decoration while showcasing the material's inherent beauty.

Partial Satin Finish and Polished Surfaces

The vase features both satin (frosted) and polished surfaces, creating sophisticated interplay of textures and light effects. The satin finish, achieved through acid etching or sandblasting, creates soft, matte surfaces that diffuse light and provide tactile interest. Polished areas create brilliant highlights and sharp reflections. This combination of finishes - characteristic of Lalique's finest work - adds visual complexity and demonstrates complete mastery of glass surface treatments. The contrast between satin and polished areas enhances the relief decoration and creates constantly changing visual effects as lighting and viewing angles change.

Signed 'Lalique R France' - Authentication

The vase bears Lalique's signature 'Lalique R France' engraved on the bottom, confirming its authenticity and provenance. This signature format, used during René Lalique's lifetime and continuing after his death in 1945, provides clear authentication. The 'R' indicates René Lalique, distinguishing pieces from his era from later production. Signed Lalique pieces command significant premiums over unsigned examples, and the signature's presence is essential for serious collectors and investment purposes.

Dimensions and Presence

At 28.5 cm height (approximately 11.2 inches), this vase offers substantial presence while remaining suitable for various display settings. The size is perfect for showcasing flowers or standing alone as pure sculptural object. The proportions create elegant vertical emphasis while the baluster form provides visual stability. This size represents the sweet spot in Lalique vase collecting - substantial enough to command attention, manageable enough for diverse display options.

Condition - Excellent

The vase remains in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs - remarkable for Art Deco glass that may be 80-100 years old. The satin and polished surfaces retain their original character, the relief decoration is crisp and intact, the signature is clear, and the overall integrity is superb. This exceptional preservation dramatically enhances both aesthetic appeal and investment value, as condition is paramount in Lalique collecting.

Timeless Elegance

The 'Giverny' vase exemplifies timeless design - equally at home in period Art Deco interiors or contemporary settings. The classical baluster form, refined floral decoration, and neutral colorless crystal create versatility that transcends changing fashions. This timelessness explains why certain Lalique designs, including 'Giverny,' remain perennially popular among collectors and decorators. The vase works beautifully empty as pure sculpture or filled with flowers as functional object.

Investment Value and Market Position

Signed Lalique vases in classic designs with excellent condition represent sound investments in the Art Deco glass market. René Lalique's market has shown consistent strength for decades, with pieces regularly achieving strong prices at international auctions. The 'Giverny' vase's combination of popular design, substantial size, signed authentication, excellent condition, and museum-quality execution positions it as an attractive acquisition. As Lalique pieces become scarcer and appreciation for Art Deco glass grows, values continue to appreciate.

Collecting Context

This vase appeals to collectors of René Lalique, Art Deco glass, French decorative arts, and those seeking elegant functional objects that are also fine art. It would enhance private collections, corporate holdings, or serve as an introduction to Lalique collecting. The museum quality, timeless design, and investment value make it suitable for collections at various levels. The 'Giverny' design's popularity and recognition add to its desirability.

Display and Use

The 'Giverny' vase's versatility allows multiple display options. It works beautifully as pure sculptural object on pedestals or shelves, in illuminated vitrines where lighting reveals surface subtleties, or as functional vase for fresh or dried flowers. The colorless crystal and elegant form complement any décor style. Proper lighting - both natural and artificial - reveals the interplay between satin and polished surfaces and the three-dimensional relief decoration. Consider placement where the vase can be appreciated from multiple angles.

✨Happy with my purchase!
At the time of writing this review, I've had my frother for almost a month now, and I love it! Out of the box, it had a good amount of charge already on it, but I did charged it fully before using. I use it just once a day for my morning coffee fix, and it says I still have 80% charge left. I love that feature. I have used the frothing whisk for coffee, which is fantastic, and the regular wisk for scrambled eggs. It works, but I prefer a hand manual whisk for eggs, because I have more control. Even on the lowest speed, it made the bowl spin WAY too much, and I almost had a mess. No problems like that using the frothing wand for my milk though. The dough hook. I have no idea why a dough hook is part of the package... what would it be useful for, one cookie, one bread roll?? I will never used it. The stand itself works for holding the unit, but the holders for the individual wands could be better. I already snapped the plastic on one of them, but not matter, since I'm not using the dough hook anyway. LOL! All in all, I'm happy with my purchase! It's easy to use and clean. It's a quality built frother, the price is fair, I like the variable speed settings, and I love the fact that it shows how much charge is left. Future product improvements I would recommend: make it waterproof, and lose the useless dough hook.

Best Frother on the Market.
With the absolute highest speed and power for a frother, this is the best frother on the market, but this model, the MF06 has three features that are great improvements over previous models. 1. LED reading of the speed setting and battery life remaining. 2. One-button stop. This is huge! Other frothers require me to cycle through the speeds 'till I get to the "off" or zero speed. This means when my coffee is at the edge almost overflowing, I have to speed-up to shut-off! Not so with this frother. 3. A loop attachment that is perfect for mixing with minimal frothing. Costumer service is excellent, highly responsive, and human! Their 2- year warranty is for real. This is my third frother with this company. The first one (an earlier model) burned out and they replaced it. Twice! They replaced the second one with an upgraded model (MF05). It worked much better, but this model, the MF06 is a slimmer design, better attachments, more features, and without a doubt, the best I the market! Highly recommend.

My third FoodVille frother in six years and this one is the best!
Apparently I have a long running relationship with milk frothers. Looking back at my Amazon orders, this is my third FoodVille frother since 2020, and they have all been part of my daily coffee routine. I make two mochas every morning, so these things get used a lot. This new MF06 model has been in daily use for about three weeks now, and it’s easily the best version I’ve owned. The biggest improvement is the adjustable speed control. Earlier models were basically one speed and you either got foam or a small milk tornado. With this one you can start slow and then increase power depending on what you’re mixing. It actually gives you control instead of just maximum blast. Things I like after using it every day: • 9 speed settings make it much more versatile • Strong motor that creates thick foam quickly • Rechargeable battery with USB-C, so no dealing with AA batteries • Battery indicator so you know when it needs charging • Multiple whisk attachments for different uses • Stand keeps everything organized on the counter The foam is thick and creamy enough that my homemade mochas now look like something from a coffee shop instead of something made by a half-awake human at 6 AM. I’ve also used it for mixing protein powder and hot chocolate, and the lower speeds help avoid splashing. The stand does take up a little counter space, but I personally like having everything organized instead of digging around in a drawer for the attachments. For around the $20 to $25 range, this has been a great little kitchen tool. After several years and multiple versions, this is the best FoodVille frother I’ve owned so far, and it gets used every single morning. What gives me confidence recommending it is that this is my third FoodVille frother since 2020, and each version has improved on the last. If you make coffee drinks at home, this is a great little tool to have.

Unbelievable power in such a tiny device.
I absolutely can't believe how well this device works for frothing milk, mixing coffee or powders into liquids, beating eggs, or anything else you can think of. Of course, you need to realize you're not making heavy batters like pancake batter with it, but for regular liquids, it's incredible. The speed at which it operates is unreal. If turned up too high and there's not enough space in your cup, the liquid spills over because it's so quick. If you're looking for a milk frother like this and don't buy it from this company, you're missing out. The power and size are just right. The shape is ergonomic, fitting the curve of your hand, making it very comfortable to hold. It's extremely versatile. I've used it with eggs, powders—like chocolate milk—and anything else I can think of. It's rechargeable, and its milk frothing ability is faster than I can describe. It's also very sturdy. It doesn't have any plastic pieces on the accessories that can break, unlike other frothers with plastic parts on the accessories that can be cracked or damaged. It's almost like one of those mini hand mixers your mom used to use—just straight metal, no plastic that can break. Just for clarification the device is made of plastic, I'm just speaking specifically about accessories like the frothers, powder mixer or hook, and the milk frother spring itself. It even comes with a stand to keep everything together on your counter. The battery is large for a small device, so it lasts between charges—I don't think I've had to recharge it yet. Just in case you don't have one, it also comes with a USB C charging cable. The battery's percentage is displayed on a digital screen, so you know exactly how much power is left. You don't need to buy batteries; it's already built-in and rechargeable. Plus, it comes from a company that stands behind its product, offering a 2-year warranty once you easily register online. I had a small issue when I first received the product, but the company replaced it quickly. All of this costs around $25. I recently started having some trouble with my hands because I'm getting older, and it's helped tremendously with small tasks I need to accomplish. It's an absolutely amazing product for the price. I also made a nice video for this review but Amazon wouldn't let me load it for reasons unknown.

The BEST frother available, you will love it too!
I have an earlier model that is still really good and this one is even better. I didn't know it was possible, but Foodville has outdone themselves with this model. I love the led blue digital display at the top that shows the speed selected, and % remaining charge; there are seven speeds and I have not even gotten past the third speed. The first push of the power button, simply illuminates the blue digital display, and speed of zero; the next push shows 1, as the unit powers on and every push after increases the speed. The off button, above the on button, when pushed shows zero, and the unit spins down. It is really nice to see the confirmation that it is off, as it spins down. The amazing part is the length of charge. I have been using it for weeks and it is still over 80% charge, and the handle is still slender, not like others that get larger as capacity increases. This one is slender, lightweight and so powerful. The stand not only holds the frother, but the accessories too. I have used the whisk to scramble eggs and it does a very credible job. I can't say enough good about this frother/mixer, but it is the best I have used and I have several. The company is known for their outstanding warranty and customer service. I use speed one or two for frothing and the third speed can sometimes risk such action as to spin the mix over the rim of my frothing pitcher, so it really means business. Buy it, you won't regret it and will never want or need another. It's just the best!
