The Tribune's CurseI was happier than any mere mortal has a right to be and I should have known better. The entire body of received mythology and every last Greek tragedy ever written have made one inescapable truth utterly clear: If you are supremely happy, the gods have it in for you. They don't like for mortals to be happy, and they will make you pay. In his extensive series featuring the detecting feats of Decius Caecilius Metellus the younger, set in the Rome of 70

I was happier than any mere mortal has a right to be and I should have known better. The entire body of received mythology and every last Greek tragedy ever written have made one inescapable truth utterly clear: If you are supremely happy, the gods have it in for you. They don't like for mortals to be happy, and they will make you pay.

In his extensive series featuring the detecting feats of Decius Caecilius Metellus the younger, set in the Rome of 70 BC, Roberts achieves a very believable modern feeling with his well-researched description of the stories' background. This seventh episode, however, combines a familiar view of the demands office-seeking makes on a candidate with a situation that is impossibly bizarre to us today. An entire city, versed in literature, music, and the other arts, ruled democratically, for its time, is thrown into panic by an enraged man's curse.

The Consul Crassus, the wealthiest man in Rome, frustrated by the Senate's vote against his leading Rome in a war against Parthia, plans to march his private army to invade the country himself. Almost all of Rome turns out to watch him carry out his threat and lead his troops out of the city. But before he can, a t powerful tribune called Ateius leaps to the top of the city's gate and invokes all the gods to put a curse on Crassus and his army.

Rome is terrified. Ateius has called down a forbidden curse -- the worst and most frightening blasphemy ever perpetrated. It seriously threatens the entire populace, and drastic steps to propitiate the gods must be taken immediately. Worse even, someone kills Ateius - perhaps in the vain hope that this will lighten the curse? It will not.

After joining the other men of the city in a daylong cleansing ritual that left every able-bodied male citizen, Decius included, in a state of half-collapse, Decius learns that he has been chosen to uncover the person responsible for the murder. The culprit must be found in order to complete the cleansing, and there is no one better equipped to do that than Decius.

Roberts skillfully blends the playboy and the serious sleuth in Decius just as he combines what we see as contradictions in the Rome of 80 BC. He spices his story with humor and suspense, with characters charming and wise and foolish and very much like we are today. And he presents readers with a look into another world that has them eagerly awaiting more.visits.

Cute! Didn’t last long for me
Color: A-Pink, Color: A-Pink
Very cute and comfortable! Love the folding tabs. Unfortunately, I’ve only had this case for around 6-7 months, and it’s already cracked and chipped. I also always carry it in a protective case (aside from this one; a computer sleeve) so i don’t think i was being rough with it at all. Still works fine, and should protect the ipad. i’m just sad it cracked so soon! I would’ve kept it for much longer had it not. I do however take it to school/work everyday, so it did commute with me.

Fits the new iPads. Buttons are easily accessible.
Color: 1-Navy Blue
Fits the new iPad. Buttons are easy to reach, and it protects the screen with a soft fell back. Easy white clean vinyl on the outside. It has open vent spots so your device can cool. Slim and sleek. A great value for the money. Buttons are easily accessible. High-quality.

Perfect, it fits like a glove.
Color: 1-Navy Blue
I really liked the sleeve, the navy blue color looks very elegant and the material feels resistant but soft to the touch. What I like the most is that the back is translucent, so you still see the design of the tablet. It works great for watching videos because it stands firm when folding it, and turning off the screen alone when closing it is very practical. Because of the price it has, the quality is excellent.

Great Protective Case for My Mother’s iPad
Color: 2-Watermelon Red, Color: 2-Watermelon Red
I bought this case along with my mother’s new iPad, and it was the perfect choice. The watermelon red color looks beautiful with the pink iPad and gives it a very clean and stylish look. The case feels sturdy without adding too much weight, which makes it comfortable for her to carry around and use every day. The stand feature works really well for watching videos, reading, and video calls. I also like that the case supports the auto wake and sleep function, which makes the iPad feel even more convenient and easy to use. The cutouts fit perfectly, and Touch ID still works without any issues. The translucent back is a nice touch because it still lets the iPad color show through while keeping it protected from scratches and bumps. Overall, this case exceeded expectations and makes a great addition for anyone wanting both protection and style for their iPad.

Good product. What you see is what you get.
Color: 1-Navy Blue
Material feels sturdy and was a perfect fit compatible for my iPad. There's adequate grip and padding for a comfortable yet slim feel. Magnets hold it close and in one position when propping it up for watching landscape videos. Back is translucent as advertised. Solid product, put it on as i opened my new ipad for immediate protection. Perfectly safe blind buy if you're also getting that 'frequently bought together' suggestion from Amazon.
