When Freedom Would Triumph recalls the most significant and inspiring legislative battle of the twentieth century -- the two decades of struggle in the halls of Congress that resulted in civil rights for the descendants of American slaves. Robert Mann's comprehensive analysis shows how political leaders in Washington -- Lyndon Johnson, Hubert Humphrey, John F. Kennedy, and others -- transformed the ardent passion for freedom -- the protests, marches, and creative nonviolence of the civil rights movement -- into concrete progress for justice. A story of heroism and cowardice, statesmanship and political calculation, vision and blindness, When Freedom Would Triumph, an abridged and updated version of Mann's The Walls of Jericho: Lyndon Johnson, Hubert Humphrey, Richard Russell, and the Struggle for Civil Rights, is a captivating, thought-provoking reminder of the need for more effective government.
Mann argues that the passage of civil rights laws is one of the finest examples of what good is possible when political leaders transcend partisan political differences and focus not only on the immediate judgment of the voters, but also on the ultimate judgment of history. As Mann explains, despite the opposition of a powerful, determined band of southern politicians led by Georgia senator Richard Russell, the political environment of the 1950s and 1960s enabled a remarkable amount of compromise and progress in Congress. When Freedom Would Triumph recalls a time when statesmanship was possible and progress was achieved in ways that united the country and appealed to our highest principles, not our basest instincts. Although the era was far from perfect, and its leaders were deeply flawed in many ways, Mann shows that the mid-twentieth century was an age of bipartisan cooperation and willingness to set aside party differences in the pursuit of significant social reform. Such a political stance, Mann argues, is worthy of study and emulation today.

Not the same rubber.
I just received these today. I already have two of the same size direct from the local pet store. The one thing I liked about them that made me want to buy more - my 13lb dog could chew on them all night and never leave a mark. The red one I received was as expected. The blue one I received was not made out of the same rubber. It was softer. We played catch a few times and it didn’t bounce the same. I looked away for 5 minutes and she had it already starting to shred. Not sure what happened but 1 of the 2 balls I was sent was not up to par, possibly defective.

Best ball toy I have found
Size: Small
This is my dog’s absolute favorite. I bought this one as a replacement. Finally after years of use one of the tiny ribs gave way. Ball is still completely useable, but got another. She chomps down on it constantly, tears at it, shakes it in her mouth. It is extremely durable. One of the great things about this ball is how ‘soft’ it is. Meaning the way it’s constructed makes it have a lot of give. The texture of the ball itself is firm, but the amount of ‘airiness’ means you can throw it inside your home, against walls, furniture, etc without worrying about any damage. Great toy inside and outside. Highly recommended ball toy. They make all different sizes. My dog is 25 lbs and loves both the 3” and the mini. The mini ones are the same size as mini tennis balls..problem is she would destroy a mini tennis ball within a day of getting one. She has had the mini Hol-ee Roller for years. Super durable.

I have a toy dog and she really loves this
Size: Small
however her mouth is very small and she had a difficult time gripping the ball. so I took a pair of scissors and cut out a section to make a bigger hole for her to get her little mouth through and now she has a lot of fun picking it up and playing with it. The ball is well-made and is one of her favorite toys. if I tell her to go get her ball she will even go under the bed and is able to grab it and carry it up the stairs to the bed for playtime. It also makes it easy when we are in the yard when I throw it. It is light enough for her to carry and bring back to me. But, as I said , I did have to adapt it so she could get a grip.

Easy to grab and throw!
Size: Medium
Our puppy loves this ball, although it gets stuck on her teeth sometimes, but she gets it off just fine! Easy to play and throw. She has a blast catching it, too!
