Once in a great while a science fiction story is so visionary, yet so close to impending scientific developments that it becomes not only an accurate predictor, but itself the locus for new discoveries and development. True Names by Vernor Vinge, first published in 1981, is such a work.

Here is a feast of articles by computer scientists and journalists on the cutting edge of the field, writing about innovations and developments of the Internet, including, among others:

Danny Hillis: Founder of thinking machines and the first Disney Fellow.

Timothy C. May: former chief scientist at Intel--a major insider in the field of computers and technology.

Marvin Minsky: Cofounder of the MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab.

Chip Morningstar and F. Randall Farmer: Codevelopers of habitat, the first real computer interactive environment.

Mark Pesce: Cocreator of VRML and the author of the Playful World: How Technology Transforms Our Imagination.

Richard M. Stallman: Research affiliate with MIT; the founder of the Free Software Movement.

Interesting Concept, But Redundant If You Already Use BHA
If you have seen this Glow Rice Exfoliant Ampoule Duo on Instagram or TikTok, you already know the marketing pitch: a gentle, soft peel that physically cleans out pores on your face and body. After testing it, I can confirm that it actually does clean pores, but the mechanism is nothing magical. It relies on the friction of massaging the serum into your skin to clump up and manually extract dead skin and debris. It is a satisfying and interesting process to watch, but it isn't groundbreaking. The biggest drawback is its redundancy if you already have a solid skincare routine. I noticed that when I use this product after my usual BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) exfoliant, it becomes completely ineffective. Because the chemical exfoliant already cleans deep inside the pores and dissolves dead skin cells, this manual friction gel finds nothing left to grab onto. It is a decent, gentle physical exfoliant that does the job, but if you already use a chemical exfoliant like BHA, you can safely skip this social media trend.

Skin feels so soft!
I actually love this stuff it makes my skin feel so smooth and soft after I use it! I don’t see a difference between the two they both work equally imo. Great if you’re in a budget and was great exfoliation!

Not as good as the real thing
I was really hoping to get a less expensive alternative to Dr Melaxin’s version. This just isn’t cutting it - it totally is not as effective, so I’m tossing this and going back. This one just doesn’t pill up as effectively.

Not as effective as original Dr. M
I bought this after reading several reviews that it is as effective as the original Dr. M. Having used both I can assert this product is NOT nearly as effective. I still had some of the original Dr. M. and did a half and half comparison and it was immediately clear. This exfoliate "pills" like the original but not nearly to the degree and when washed away the half I used the leftover Dr. M. was clean of dead skin and showed clear pores. The other half? Not so much. I'll be going back to the original.
