She was commissioned to write travelogues for shipping companies to promote the Cook Islands, Fiji, Niue, Samoa, and Tonga. She intended to stay a few months but remained for twenty-seven years. This adventure and romance novel "Lady In the Strange South Seas" is typical of Grimshaw's writing featuring the unique life and landscape of the early South Pacific Islands.
