Because Fry had no cooking or housekeeping experience, the romance of living in a hut and learning to cook on a makeshift stove quickly faded. Guided by the village women and their children, this twenty-year-old American who had never made more than instant coffee eventually came to love the people and the food that at first had seemed so foreign. While her husband conducted his clinical study of the native population, Fry entered their world through friendships forged over an open fire. Coming of age in the jungle among the Kekchi and Mopan Maya, Fry learned to teach, to barter and negotiate, to hold her ground, to share her space--and she learned to cook. This is the funny, heartfelt, and provocative story of how Fry painstakingly baked and boiled her way up the food chain, from instant oatmeal and flour tortillas to bush-green soup, agouti (a big rodent), gibnut (a bigger rodent), and, finally, something even the locals wouldn't tackle: a "mountain cow," or tapir. X-Large is about a size 12-13 shoe size foot USA.

I love them they work fantastic. I am a big guy with swollen feet. Wear size 12 to 13 USA Shoes. They fit me just fine not tight. My feet felt good after wearing them for two days. Some dry skin pulled off with them and it says to wash by hand. I dont know about the durability but I am hoping to get about 5 uses per pair. Before they become unusable.

I have very sensitive skin, so I usually need to wear socks at all times. These are especially comfortable because they don’t cover the toes, which helps with temperature control. The material is well-balanced—not too thick or too thin—and has just the right amount of stretch. I also appreciate the large traction area, which adds stability. Another plus is that they are completely fragrance-free.

Great Heel Socks

I don't know how they work but it's wonderful. I've had rough heel problems for a long time. I wear these everyday and my heels are not rough. They're not baby bottom smooth, but they are not ever going to be. These heel socks also oncce they are properly positioned snap onto the heel. Properly positioning them is easy when you put them on your foot with the heel cup in the correct orientation.
