As part of the promotion for the 2006 album 3121, a legendary radio show that was conceived and produced starting in 2005 but ultimately shelved, is now fully available. Hosted by DJ Rashida, who had also participated in Prince's tours, the show features Prince's favorite comedian, Cat Williams, as well as Prince himself. In addition to Prince’s own tracks, including his new songs at the time, the show features an eclectic selection from Graham Central Station, Sly, Parliament, Funkadelic, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, Joni Mitchell, David Bowie, Björk, and more. Notably, it includes the live version of "Beautiful Strange" and a live recording from the 2006 Orpheum Theatre, where Prince performed with Tameka Davis. You can also hear fiery live renditions of covers like "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough," "Teenage Love Affair," and "Play That Funky Music," including covers of Michael and Janet Jackson. This long-shelved radio show was streamed exclusively in 2020 on SiriusXM's Prince Channel. Now, it’s being released in a newly remastered version with some noise removal and restoration of the original audio. As a bonus, the "BLACK SWEAT" (DJ Rashida Mix) is also included in this latest PGA collector’s edition!

A familiar story, just with…..less.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
