Potica or kolache, sarma or braciole, lutefisk or baccala, fattigman or lefse--Minnesota's Iron Range has a culinary language all its own. The pursuit of rich iron ore in the early twentieth century drew workers who hailed from Finland, Sweden, Slovenia, Italy, and many other places, and as the men went to work in the mines, their families adjusted together to this new land. The immigrants' children, that first generation, grew up in multiethnic communities where grandmothers shared the bounty of their gardens and the products of their kitchens--and everyone savored a new mix of food traditions. Come, You Taste celebrates the cuisine of these numerous groups and features fond memories of neighborhoods now gone, of flavors and scents that mingled on a single block, of local entrepreneurs who lifted up old-world dishes like porketta and pasties and potica. Second-generation Iron Ranger B. J. Carpenter has collected stories and treasured recipes that will inspire modern cooks to explore this brand of Minnesota cuisine in their own kitchens. Whatever the name of the dish, whatever the ethnic connection, these breads and pastries, hearty mains, and tempting sides all fit the bill of "very good food."

Born and raised in Hibbing, B. J. Carpenter is a culinary educator and writer living in the Twin Cities. She is the author, with Shelley N. C. Hall, of The Minnesota Table: Recipes for Savoring Local Food Throughout the Year.

Super comfortable and extremely flattering
Size: 9.5, Color: Black
Love! Love! Love! Even though they are very flat sandals, the soul has just enough cushion to feel like you’re walking on a cloud. I also love the location of the straps. As someone with bunions, they cover them perfectly and make my feet look attractive while not being completely covered.

Comfortable at first, but didn’t hold up long-term
Size: 8, Color: Tan
The size felt true and the feel was comfortable right out of the box. I liked the softness of the footbed, and the wearability was good for everyday errands and casual outings at first. Unfortunately, after about six months of regular use, they started falling apart. While the versatility was nice and the thickness felt fine for warm weather, the overall durability just wasn’t there. They’re okay for short-term use, but I wouldn’t expect them to last long.

Great quality
Size: 10, Color: Tan
Great quality leather sandals I bought to replace a worn out pair. They are comfortable and not stiff. Hoping the rubber sole lasts a long time. They look nice with jeans, shorts or casual dresses.

Beautiful, well priced, and no discomfort!
Size: 6.5, Color: Taupe, Size: 6.5, Color: Taupe
My daughter wore these for her HS graduation ceremony. So beautiful, well priced, and she never complained about any pain or discomfort. The only downside was that she got an X tanned on her feet! 😆 So put sunscreen on your feet before wearing these.

Love them
Size: 5.5, Color: Red Pepper
I have gotten so many compliments on these shoes! They’re true to size and comfortable. Because of the material feet might sweat easier if hot but they dry quick. Quality is great and the color looks good, it’s more of a orange/red color. I got a 5.5 size
