Per Olof Arne Olsson was born November 17, 1918 in Grundsunda , Västernorrland. He was a Swedish painter and print maker.
Olsson studied at Otte Sköld's painting school in Stockholm and during private study trips abroad including Norway, France, Portugal and Morocco. He exhibited in solo shows, two and three person exhibitions and group shows.
Select exhibitions include ones with Rune Pettersson and Gunnar Hållander at the Borås Art Salon in 1948, with Karl-Erik Nordin and Harry Sandberg at Galleri Brinken in Stockholm in 1957, and with Malte Nyberg-Tolf and Åke Lagerborg in Husum in 1958. Olssoon had solo exhibitions at Hantverkshuset in Umeå, Galerie Æsthetica in Stockholm and in Härnösand and Östersund. He participated in group exhibitions organised by Ångermanland's Art Association, Västervik's Art Association, Boden's Art Association and Östersund's art club. A retrospective exhibition was held at the Town Hall in Örnsköldsvik in 2003.
Among his public works are a mural in Örnsköldsvik, a grid work for Sundsvallsbanken in Sollefteå and the sculpture New York—New York which, thanks to a gift from Carl XVI Gustaf in 1991, can be found in the UN headquarters in New York. He was awarded the Örnsköldsvik Art Association's travel scholarship in 1949. Olsson painted portraits, group scenes, still lifes, interiors and landscapes painted in oil or watercolour. He also predicted linocut prints.
Olsson is represented at the Borås Art Museum, Sundsvall Museum, Umeå Museum, Wasa Museum and Tampere Museum.
Olsson passed away on September 3, 2004 in Örnsköldsvik.
