Year-round protection that packs down to stow easily and deploys when windproof, waterproof core protection is critical – an update to the newspapers cyclists have been stuffing down their jerseys for alpine descents for generations. A new softshell, HYPERPLUSH, lives up to its name with a waterproof, windproof shield supported by a soft lining. Wear the ThermoBooster Foil beneath your bib straps to anchor it in place, and descend in total comfort.
The ASSOS ThermoBooster Foil is a technical version of the newspaper version of wind protection. ...a long way since the days of stuffing yesterday’s issue of L’Équipe newspaper under a jersey for extra protection during long descents.
Cyclists put newspapers under their jerseys on mountain descents to create a temporary, rudimentary wind barrier, trapping a pocket of warm air to protect their chest and core from the bone-chilling winds and prevent a sudden drop in body temperature after the exertion of climbing. This effective, classic technique is still used today.
This ASSOS windproof and waterproof ultrasoft barrier shields on descents but will pack away into a jersey pocket when the road arrives back at sea level. Quick and easy-on, easy-off, super compact to carry on a ride.
