February 1950, Volkswagen's then Chief Executive Heinrich Nordhof, announced a convenient transporter called the Type 2. The Type 2 was made by combining the Beetle's underbody and a box-shaped body. It is a model that became the second best seller after Beetle.
Type 2 was launched in March 1950 from a commercial vehicle called a delivery van. The first type 2 made from 1950 to 1966 which had the front window split into two. This feature is still popular with the collectors and fans alike and a split screen type II is always a hit at car show.
