This unit was based on the JD800 and will accept sounds from it.  We've never tried, but we've heard you can even program the sounds on it using the faders on the JD-800.  This modules great for warm analog sounding and digital pad sounds, but can do a wide range of sounds very well. It's got more parameters than the JD800. You can select structures with ring modulation and oscillator sync, allowing you to create interesting sounds the 800 can't touch. There's a removable panel on top of the unit for installing a Roland expansion board of your choice - this will add more samples/waveforms to its synth engine.
