The 8" Alternating Air Pressure Mattress provides advanced pressure redistribution therapy to promote blood circulation and prevent further pressure sores in patients with existing pressure ulcers. The Air Bubble Cells inflate and deflate slowly in a pre-set, adjustable cycle to help alleviate pressure on critical areas, reducing the risk of new sores and promoting healing.

GUIDELINES FOR USE

While this mattress assists in pressure sore management, it’s important to continue regular patient repositioning and assessment. Turning the patient at intervals and monitoring high-risk areas should still be an integral part of the treatment plan.

This alternating air mattress is designed for Stage II to IV pressure sores and is intended for both short-term care and domiciliary use, providing ultimate comfort and relief for patients with existing pressure ulcers.

Different Modes

Panel Lock
Prevents accidental or unwanted changes to the system settings, ensuring consistent and safe operation.

Seat Inflate
Provides targeted support at the hip area when the bed is raised (e.g., in Fowler’s or semi-Fowler’s position). This prevents the patient from sliding down the mattress, and mattress bottoming out.
⚠️ Note: Intended for activities lasting less than 30 minutes. The system will automatically return to alternating mode after 30 minutes.

Auto-Firm
Fully inflates the mattress to provide firm support, making patient transfers from bed to chair safer and easier.
⚠️ Note: Intended for activities lasting less than 30 minutes. The system will automatically return to alternating mode after 30 minutes.

Alarm Reset
Quickly silences system alarms while you check and resolve the cause, ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Cycle Time
Choose from 4 preset cycles (6, 9, 12, or 25 minutes) based on patient needs.

  • Shorter cycles: redistribute pressure more frequently.

  • Longer cycles: provide extended support on each area.
⚠️ Note: Cycle time should always be adjusted according to the patient’s medical condition, skin assessment, and comfort level. For patients with advanced sores or very fragile skin, a shorter cycle is usually safer.

Static Mode
Inflates all air cells evenly to provide a stable, even surface for short-term activities lasting more than 30 minutes, such as:

  • Patient feeding in bed

  • Dressing changes or wound inspection

  • When the patient needs to sit upright

⚠️ Note: Once activated, the mattress remains in static mode until manually switched back to alternating.

Alternating Mode
(Default setting when powered on)
The air cells inflate and deflate in sequence to:

  • Improve blood circulation

  • Minimize pressure on any one area

  • Reduce trapped heat and moisture

  • Provide gentle, continuous airflow

All modes can be adjusted to suit the patient’s condition, ensuring both comfort and effective pressure relief.

INSTALLATION:

  1. Place the 8" air mattress securely on the bed.
  2. Attach the compressor pump to the footboard of the bed.
  3. Connect the mattress air tubes to the compressor, ensuring there are no kinks for proper airflow.
  4. Plug the compressor into the main power supply and turn it on.
  5. Set the "Auto Firm" mode for maximum air flow for rapid mattress inflation.
  6. Once inflated, adjust the pressure settings to the desired level.

RELOCATION/DEFLATION:

  1. Disconnect hose connector from pump unit.
  2. Open up CPR flaps by pulling up red straps so as to allow for more air outlet routes.
  3. Apply weight in the middle portion to push a reasonable amount of air out.
  4. Once the middle portion is adequately deflated, fold mattress in half.
  5. From the middle portion, slowly roll up and squeeze down on the semi-deflated mattress, making sure the air tube is not kinked.
  6. Once most of the air is forced out, the rolled-up mattress can be curled up to a smaller form to be fitted into a carrier bag. Make sure the hose cable is not tangled or tensioned in the process to prevent any damage.

SAFETY GUIDELINES:

  • Precaution: Always take care when operating this electrical equipment.
  • Unplug: Disconnect from the electrical supply when not in use.
  • Humidity: Do not expose the equipment to high humidity environments.
  • Cleaning Chemicals: Avoid using corrosive cleaning agents or solvents.
  • Relocation: Never attempt to move the equipment while it is connected to power.

CLEANING THE COMPRESSOR (PUMP):

  1. Disconnect the compressor from the power supply before cleaning.
  2. Use a cloth with mild detergent to wipe the compressor, avoiding alcohol-based cleaning products.
  3. Ensure the compressor is completely dry before reconnecting it to the power supply.

A still timely writing for all pastors
Format: Paperback
Although first published 25 years ago, Peterson addresses a matter that is still timely, the need for all pastors to commit themselves to prayer, reading scripture and spiritual direction. These, Peterson asserts, are an essential foundation for all other aspects of ministry. Peterson's premise, that many pastors have abdicated their primary calling to these three practices, is still very relavent to the current state of pastoral ministry. Its content will be useful for new and veteran pastors alike.

A Personally Challengiing Read
Don’t expect Rosaria Butterfield to coddle sin. She acknowledges the Biblical truth that we are at war with it. It is evil. Lies are rampant with it. The Bible’s solution is to kill it, nailing it to the cross of Christ. If we don’t, it will do great and lasting harm. That is the background premise of this book. This book is for believers in Jesus Christ, especially those who identify as Evangelicals. Others may benefit by reading its pages, but I suspect that most of them will not be able to persevere through it because today’s culture is just not willing to sit through this much proclamation of Bible truth. They will react, not respond. Believers will be convicted, encouraged, and edified. Butterfield’s style is plain, but today’s culture requires her to address and to use terminology that may be challenging to many readers. It was for me. Add a level of abstraction for some challenging spiritual truths. Add the fact that she is an intellectual dealing with cultural and theological subjects. It is mostly college level reading, except for the story parts. Butterfield has credentials. A professor of English at Syracuse University, she was ten years in the Lesbian community with a mate. She was found by Christ, began to grow in Him, was discipled by faithful church women, met a wonderful man, was married to him--a Presbyterian pastor—became a mother, and began to minister to college students from a Christian perspective. She tells some of her story and the stories of others in the pages of the book. It is fascinating reading. The book is organized around the five lies that Butterfield has chosen to expose, with two to four chapters dealing with each. She acknowledges that there are others that could be exposed as well. The last one, about our culture's attitude toward modesty, was the most surprising to me. The book also has a Foreword by Kevin DeYoung, a Preface, and an Introduction. Don’t skip them. The Foreword is nothing short of a good sermon that should be shared in every church in America. In the Preface Butterfield spills the beans, revealing exactly where she stands on key topics and to whom she is addressing this volume. The Introduction is engaging and lengthy and pretty much summarizes the rest of the book. Along the way Butterfield deals with homosexuality, changing gender, male leadership in the home and in church, the bedrock importance of repentance, progressive sanctification, intersectionality, “gay Christianity” (Side A and Side B), feelings and truth, empathy and sympathy, submission of the wife, feminism, inerrancy, envy and biblical contentment, suffering, modesty and exhibitionism, and even worship. She quotes scripture, sometimes at length, and she gives copious Bible references. She also has footnotes, some of which are as interesting as the text. She names and uses or responds to contemporary authors on the topics at hand. She gives solid directions for those dealing with contemporary issues. She also has suggestions for dealing with family members beset by these matters including a question-and-answer section. Page 301. I recommend this book for all Christian leaders and for believers who want to understand contemporary challenges for the church from our modern culture.
