Morbido e vellutato il sorso, giustamente tannico di buon corpo. Buona la lunghezza.Diventa dobbligo quando in tavola ci sono i formaggi di media stagionatura e i secondi di carne, e soprattutto quando le occasioni sono di quelle più conviviali e più informali. Il Maiana, Rosso targato Leone de Castris a denominazione Salice Salentino, è un vino che regala un sorso immediato e diretto, generoso come lo è quello dei migliori vini del sud Italia. Ottenuto da una base di uve negroamaro, che sono completate da qualche grappolo di malvasia nera di Lecce, matura per sei mesi in botti di rovere, cosicché arriva ad armonizzare alla perfezione il frutto con le sottili note rilasciate dal passaggio in legno. È un rosso del Salento da apprezzare in tutto e per tutto fino allultima goccia.
Adatto per accompagnare le seconde portate della cucina di terra, è ottimo con larrosto misto di carne.

An excellent book...a must read!

Ruthie Gilmore's examination of California's prison-industrial complex paints a sobering portrait of the effects of the state's post-industrial decline in the past quarter century. Supplemented by numerous charts, maps, and statistics, Gilmore argues that the massive prison-building project that began in the early 1980s was rooted in earlier developments, namely the failure of the "welfare-warfare state" to absorb the numerous surpluses created by political and economic restructuring. Combining theory and historical-sociological analysis, this highly readable book is at once depressing and optimistic; it lays out the facts and guidelines for pursuing meaningful, antiracist struggles against the systemic dehumanization of immigrants, low-wage workers, and youths of color that continues to characterize U.S. political culture.
