GAERNE SG-22 BOOT

There is a new horsepower on the ground: Gaerne SG22 “Gaerne is putting new horsepower on the ground”.

Every component, every detail of the SG.22 has been fine-tuned thanks to this mentality. The first innovation is the new 3D Main Body Toe Box which adopts a three-dimensional construction, characterized by a single joint element positioned on the outside near the closing lever. This allows a reduction in the height between the sole and the rear derailleur, increasing the speed of shifting.

The Aluminum Superlight Buckles levers stand out thanks to a new painted finish, and the improvements are not just aesthetic. In addition to the classic adjustment of the strap, the upper locking lever of the SG.22 can be adjusted in three positions.

A system which, combined with the two positions guaranteed by the new Frontal Shin Guard makes possible to obtain multiple configurations to optimize the fit and allow easy insertion knee protectors. Near the Frontal Plate are allocated two Air Vents to allow air enter and inside in correspondence 3D channels are designed to create cavities capable of facilitating the evacuation of humidity and the dissipation of heat. The geometry of the movement has also been modified to allow the boot to better "copy" the movements of the ankle.

The newly designed Razorback helps to reduce the overall weight of the boot. The Gaerne Dual Stage Pivot System 1.0 protects the ankle with two limit switches which limits the hyperextension, hyperflexion, and lateral movements. Internally the Memory foam 1.0 has also been re-engineered.

This injected material takes the shape of the ankle, stabilizing the whole foot allowing the foot to become one with the boot. The inner leg, in contact with the bike, features Grip Guard 1.0 rubber elements with a compound developed with professional riders. This improves protection and optimizes the coefficient of friction for better riding feel.

The art and the story is amazing! As a swimmer, I can relate to many of the successes and struggles the characters face throughout the book. Thank you for illustrating and writing this book, and I hope it inspires many readers to swim!

Can Bree lead her team to victory?
Format: Hardcover
Swim Team by Johnnie Christmas is a graphic novel that follows Bree, a city kid from New York who moves to Florida due to her dad's new job. Excited to join math puzzles on her first day at her new school, Bree instead finds herself being assigned to swim 101, but there is just one problem: Bree can't swim. Faced with potentially failing the class, Bree's elderly neighbor Etta, who was once a swim team captain, offers to teach her. With Etta’s training and a lot of hard work, Bree suddenly finds herself on the school's failing swim team. With her school considering selling the land the pool resides on, Bree is determined to lead her team to victory at the state championship and save the pool. This book touches on topics such as anxiety, racism, family dynamics, sports, and friendship. I found the honest exploration provided a powerful lesson of how our circumstances shape us but don't control us. As a former swim team captain myself, I really resonated with this book: I felt it perfectly captured the swim team dynamic, and the high-action illustrations of swim team meets were breath-taking. Personally, I found this book to be wonderfully nostalgic; I could almost smell the chlorine and feel the diving block beneath my feet as I read it. Overall, I think Swim Team would be a major hit in elementary and middle school libraries. @TheHeterogeneousReader

A decent read, it wrestles a bit with a couple of different topics of anxiety, racism, family dynamics, sports, and friendship in fits and bursts. I guess my main critique was it felt a bit shallow (no pun intended) with most issues resolved rather quickly and easily once characters put their minds to it. The Hollyhoke's team also seemed to be pretty toxic making it a wonder why someone would want to go there other than that it's wealthy.
