This lovely Flat-weave Kilim Rug was handwoven in the Central Anatolian region of Konya, Turkey up to 60 years ago. Locally sourced sheep wool is hand-spun and dyed with vegetable dyes unique to the area and Konya rugs are renowned for the high quality of the wool used, the beauty of the colors and the durability / longevity of the finished product. The dimensions, being long and relatively narrow, of this kilim suggest it was woven for local, domestic use as a wall or floor covering in nomadic tents. This beautiful Kilim would sit very comfortable in a modern home, adding a traditional element to contemporary decor.
