Obverse: Young laureate bust of HM Queen Elizabeth II right, legend around.

Reverse: The four quarterings of the Royal Arms each contained in a shield and arranged in saltire with, in the intervening spaces, a rose, a thistle, a sprig of shamrock and a leek; in the centre the Crown and in the base the date.

Edge: Reeded

Issued to celebrate the British Exhibition in New York, USA at which The Royal Mint had a stand demonstrating the coins being struck. The prooflike polished die varieties were the pieces struck in New York and excess examples were shipped back to the UK. The reverse design was that used for the Queen's coronation in 1953 with the date being changed and having a reeded edge rather than incuse lettering.

This coin was not included in demonetization legislation when decimalization was introduced in 1971. It has been confirmed by the Royal Mint that the coin remains legal tender, having been remonetized with a value of 25 pence.

The standard weight of these coins was 10/11 troy ounce (436.4 grains). Under the Coinage Act of 1946, the composition changed from .500 silver to .750 copper/.250 nickel but the weight remained unchanged.

The reverse design was also reused in 2014 to celebrate the first birthday of Prince George of Cambridge.

This item was NOT new as advertised!
This was given as a father day gift. When we opened it the clear film on the back had lint entangled in the sticky residue, the leather band had marks on it as if someone was adjusting it to their wrist size and the big one….the watch was doused absolutely doused in cologne. It’s clear that someone purchased before me, wore it or an event(s) then returned the watch. Tissot or Amazon: how can you make this right? I bought it and paid for “new” pricing and clearly was “not new” Quality control??

Stunning watch!! Purchased for my boyfriend for his birthday. He is a bigger guy with a larger arm/wrist so the size of this watch looks great on him. He receives a ton of compliments on it, and it still catches my eye every time he wears it. Decent weight without being too heavy (he reports). Perfect to wear as a daily watch or dress up with
