Four Paws Step-by-Step Crate Training

1. Crate Selection

Crates come in single-door and double-door varieties. For most purposes, an air-ventilated wire crate, which allows your dog to see his surroundings, is the best choice. It can be covered if there’s something going on you don’t want him to see. There should be enough room in the crate for him to turn around and lie down with his paws outstretched.

2. Placement and Setup

Place the crate in a quiet but not isolated area of the house. You want your dog to have positive associations for his new den, which won’t happen if it makes him feel lonely. The kitchen or corner of the family room is ideal, away from drafts and direct sunlight. The crate should feel like home, not a place of banishment, so the crate should contain familiar bedding and a favorite chew toy.

3. Open House

To get your dog used to the crate, place a chew toy or treat inside. Our sister company, Nylabone, manufactures chew toys and edible chews that are perfect for your dog’s crate time. If he enters the crate, praise him. Do not shut the door. Stay with him. Before you know it, your dog will regard his crate as his own special getaway. Never use force to crate train your dog. Be patient and let him discover its advantages on his own.

4. Settling Down

Once your dog gets accustomed to the crate, you can begin shutting the door for very brief periods, gradually increasing them over time. Soon your dog will be able to sleep all night in his crate or spend time there during the day. It is very important to ensure that he is not left in the crate for long periods. Dogs require plenty of exercise outside of the crate.

Forget the naysayers unless you are just after religion. But if relationship is what you want, then this translation is one of the best out there. Take for example, Psalm 139:5 "You've gone into my future to prepare the way, and in kindness you follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past." WOW! Thank you Lord! What a GREAT God I have and that I get to be friends with. He IS my friend, but also my Lord and Savior. Look at Colossians 1:19,20 "For God is satisfied to have all His fullness dwelling in Christ. And by the blood of his cross, everything in heaven and earth is brought back to himself--back to its original intent, restored to innocence again! " Amazing what He did for us! Back to His original intent! And one more, Romans 5:1 "Our faith in Jesus transfers God's righteousness to us and he now declares us flawless in his eyes. This means we can now enjoy true and lasting peace with God, all because of what our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One , has done for us. " That makes me want to give glory to Jesus! What a great translation! I love how the author realizes and states "There is no such thing as a truly literal translation of the Bible, for there is not an equivalent language that perfectly conveys the meaning of the biblical text. It must be understood in its original cultural and linguistic settings. This problem is best addressed when we seek to transfer meaning, not merely words, from the original text to the receptor language." Go for it! It will only bring you closer to the One who LOVES you the most. Allow Him to lavish you with love, and then you'll be able to lavish others, undeserving like yourself, with love.

See my photos for wear. I toss it in my tote with other bibles and journals, and while it's getting pretty dirty, it's not falling apart. Size/font: I personally love this size. I have it pictured with an A5 journal for comparison. For someone with good eyesight the font is great. The verse numbers and footnotes are very small. Some of my friends prefer the large print version in order to see more easily. Pages: The pages are not as thin as other bibles, but not as thick as some. I show the front and back of a page with heavy highlighting. My highlighters are not traditional, they're the Pilot Frixion erasable. Ballpoint pen definitely shows through, but no bleeding. If you are determined not to like this Bible, then it will be just a book for you. If you are open to reading it side by side with your trusted Bible I KNOW that the Holy Spirit will guide you into new revelation because 1) that's what is promised to us by the Holy Spirit and 2) the Word of God is the Word of God, and is more full of power than any human can mismanage. To tear down the Word of God is dangerous. To allow the Word to transform us through believing it is LIFE!
