This is the Richmond County, Virginia entry in the series of 1815 Virginia Landowners Booklets. It's an alphabetical listing of all 1815 landowners found in this county, as well as the accompanying description of the location of said property. A helpful resource for Virginia genealogy!

About this series:

In 1782 the General Assembly of Virginia enacted new tax laws which created within each county an enumeration of land and certain personal property. These early land tax laws required a tax commissioner in each district of a county to record a list of the names of persons owning land or town lots, the quantity of land owned and its value, and the amount of tax owed. By 1813, a brief geographic description (usually citing an adjacent stream, road, or other landmark) was required; in 1814, the distance and direction from the courthouse for each parcel was also added to the tax rolls.

The present work is an alphabetical listing of all 1815 landowners found in each county, as well as the accompanying description of the location of the said property. We have not included the number of acres, taxes assessed, or any transactions between landowners which may have been noted on the tax rolls; also, in many cases the geographic location was provided as "adjacent to John Smith", etc. and, while useful many times to a genealogist, was considered to be beyond the objectives of this project. The reader is encouraged to consider the information here-in as an "outline" of early landowners in Virginia rather than a "text" due to the year-to-year variation in information provided to the clerk (or recorded by the clerk), omissions, lack of "identifiers" to determine if "same name" was also "same person" within a district or across districts, marginal quality/clarity (in a few cases) of the microfilm copy, and, not least, errors on the part of either the original clerks or the current author while transcribing.

Some of the approaches to utilizing the 1815 landowner information include:

  • observe distinct clusters of the same surname within a county in order to clarify the common surnames such as "Smith", "Anderson", etc;
  • identify non-resident landowners and their county (or state) of residence (these people often being former residents of the current county);
  • determine neighbors with different surnames (often being relatives);
  • use the 1815 information as a "bridge" from the 18th and 19th century deed/will books to the 17th and 18th century land grants/patents in the county;
  • evaluate the 1810 to 1840 census information which generally grouped neighbors;
  • substitute this information for missing deed/will books in the "burned" counties; and, clarify/enhance vague deed/will information in the counties with more complete records.

FORMAT OF PRESENTATION: Each entry is listed as: Surname, name, personal identifiers (if any); location/place-name of land; miles/direction from the 1815 courthouse. If multiple owners are listed for a property, the listing is duplicated under each of the owner's surnames (i.e "Smith and Brown" is also listed as "Brown, --see Smith"); when multiple owners share a common surname, the property is only listed once. When a landowner had land at more than one location/place-name, the miles/direction listing for each parcel is in the same sequence as the location listing (i.e. James RV, Slate CK; 12N, 5SW.). In the few cases where a landowner had "many" parcels, the miles/direction notation is attached to the location listing (i.e. Sandy RV- 5NE, Willow CK-7S, etc.)

Anker MacBook Pro Charger, Compact and Foldable 100W USB C Charger
Color: Arctic White
Perfect Blend of Power, Portability, and Reliability After using the Anker 100W USB-C Charger with my MacBook Pro for several weeks, I can confidently say this is one of the best third-party chargers I’ve owned. It combines everything I want in a charger: powerful performance, smart design, travel-friendly size, and the kind of reliability that makes you forget about constantly worrying whether your devices are charging correctly. First and foremost, the charging power is excellent. My MacBook Pro charges just as quickly with this charger as it does with Apple’s official adapter, which is impressive considering how much smaller and lighter it is. Even while running demanding programs, I haven’t noticed any slowdown in charging speeds. The 100W output is more than enough for laptops, and it works equally well for tablets, phones, and even accessories like my Nintendo Switch. I like that I don’t have to carry multiple chargers anymore—this one compact brick handles them all without a problem. The design is very thoughtful. The compact size immediately stands out. Compared to the bulkier Apple version, this Anker model takes up far less room in my bag, which is a big deal for someone who’s always on the go. The foldable prongs are another small detail that makes a huge difference. They flip in and out smoothly, and when folded, the charger doesn’t catch on anything or scratch my laptop or other gear. It feels designed with travel and everyday use in mind, which I really appreciate. Another thing that deserves praise is the build quality. Anker has a strong reputation for durable products, and this charger lives up to that. The casing feels solid and well-made, and even after extended use it doesn’t get excessively hot. I’ve had cheaper chargers in the past that either overheated, felt flimsy, or started making buzzing noises after a while. This one inspires confidence every time I plug it in. I’ve also tested it across multiple devices, not just my MacBook Pro. It fast-charges my iPad, my phone, and even my wireless earbuds with no issues at all. The intelligent power distribution seems to adjust perfectly depending on what I’m charging, so I don’t have to worry about damaging smaller devices or not getting enough juice for the bigger ones. It’s reassuring to know that I can toss this charger in my bag and it will handle whatever device I need, no matter where I am. One area where this really shines is portability. I travel a lot, and carrying around the original MacBook charger always felt bulky and awkward. With this Anker charger, I save space and weight in my backpack without sacrificing performance. It’s so much easier to manage at airports, coffee shops, and co-working spaces. The foldable design just makes it that much neater to pack away. Overall, this charger is an easy five stars for me. It has the speed and reliability of Apple’s charger, but in a smaller, smarter, and more portable package. Anker has nailed the balance between performance and convenience, and it’s a purchase I feel completely confident recommending to anyone who owns a MacBook Pro or any USB-C device that requires higher wattage. If you want one charger that can do it all, this is the one.

Works well, good price.
Color: Arctic White
Effective, fast charging. A little big and heavy but still lighter than a standard Mac charger. Works on my Macbook and my android. Got my Macbook from 0% to 50% in about 30 minutes, while I was using it.

Color: Black
I recently purchased the 100W USB-C Charger from Anker, specifically the PIQ 3.0 Compact and Foldable model, and I must say that it has exceeded my expectations in several aspects. Here's why I believe it deserves four stars: First and foremost, the charging speed is impressive. With 100W of power, this charger is capable of rapidly charging a variety of devices. Whether it's a smartphone, tablet, or even a laptop, the Anker USB-C Charger gets the job done quickly and efficiently. The PIQ 3.0 technology ensures optimized charging for compatible devices, saving me precious time and keeping my devices ready to go. The compact and foldable design is a standout feature of this charger. It takes up minimal space, making it perfect for travel or everyday use. The foldable prongs allow for easy storage and protect them from damage when not in use. Its lightweight and portable nature make it convenient to carry in a bag or pocket, ensuring I have reliable charging wherever I go. The build quality of the charger is top-notch. The materials used feel durable and sturdy, giving me confidence in its longevity. Anker is known for its high-quality products, and this charger lives up to that reputation. I appreciate the attention to detail in its design and construction. Another positive aspect of this charger is its compatibility with a wide range of devices. Whether it's USB-C or USB-A, this charger can handle it all. The versatility it offers is a definite advantage, as I can charge multiple devices simultaneously without the need for separate chargers. Anker's commitment to safety is evident in this product. The charger incorporates multiple safety features, such as overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, and temperature control. This gives me peace of mind knowing that my devices are being charged safely without the risk of any damage. While the Anker 100W USB-C Charger has exceeded my expectations in many ways, I feel there is room for improvement. The inclusion of a USB-C to USB-C cable would have been a nice addition, as it would provide a complete package for charging devices. Additionally, a travel pouch or case to keep the charger and cable organized during travel would be highly appreciated. In conclusion, the Anker 100W USB-C Charger, PIQ 3.0 Compact and Foldable model, is a reliable and convenient fast charger that delivers on its promises. Its impressive charging speed, compact design, and wide compatibility make it an excellent choice for anyone in need of a powerful and portable charging solution. With its sturdy build quality and safety features, I have no hesitation in recommending this charger.

Great charger, works as intended.
Color: Black
Works great, I’m able to use my Legion Go S docked to my TV with this charger whereas a 65W charger it would slowly discharge. Highly recommend for PC handheld users.
