Red Blue Neocaridina Shrimp - Mixed Bundle

These popular, hardy shrimp are great for people wanting to start out keeping and breeding shrimp. They are colourful and active so look great in a planted aquarium. They love to live in grass or moss so we recommend having a planted tropical aquarium. There are many varieties of Neocaridina shrimp including variations of the colours red, blue, green, orange, yellow and green. This is a listing for a mixture of various common red and blue shrimp varieties depending on stock availability. We will endeavour to supply as even a mix of colours as possible.

Neocaridina varieties of shrimp have a distinctive head with a pointy rostrum (nose) and four antennae (one pair longer than the other). These shrimp have eyes that protrude on stalks on either side of the rostrum, and three pairs of short legs beneath the mouth that help the shrimp scavenge for food. The shrimp’s abdomen has six overlapping shell segments and five pairs of legs for swimming. Freshwater tropical shrimp thrive in well-planted aquariums, with dried leaves, mosses and grass being the plants of choice.

Do freshwater shrimp shed their skin?
Freshwater Tropical Shrimp will moult and shed their carapace, often appearing to have grown larger once shed. The carapace is often clear and will be eaten and foraged by other shrimp, which is perfectly natural behaviour and a good source of calcium for them. A shed carapace can often be mistaken for a casualty in the aquarium.

Will freshwater shrimp clean my tank?
Freshwater aquarium shrimp, and many other aquatic shrimp, will feed and forage about the aquarium floor, breaking down and consuming uneaten bits of food, plant and leaf matter, and waste. They should not be relied upon as a cleaner however, and must be given a ready source of food and algae to scavenge. Tropical shrimp will often be seen clinging to internal filters or filter sponges to feed.

Ease of care
Easy. Do not use any copper treatments, such as treatments for snails, with shrimp in the aquarium - they will prove fatal. Always check the label before using any disease treatments in shrimp tanks. Ensure they have plenty of shelter, such as driftwood or caves, to avoid predators and encourage breeding.

Compatibility
Peaceful. Do not house shrimp with fish that are likely to see them as a source of food, such as cichlids or bettas. House with smaller fish that cannot fit them in their mouths, such as neon and ember tetra.

Diet
Omnivore. Will happily gather small sinking granules and graze on a ready supply of algae. Feed shrimp-specific food or broken-up algae wafer.

Breeding

Shrimps are prolific breeders and will readily spawn a clutch of fry each week or two. If mixing colours, be aware that the offspring mixed shrimp are likely to produce will be brown or clear, rather than the parent colour. Males are smaller than females and grow to about 1 inch in length. Start with 6 or more to encourage reproduction.

Life Span
Red Blue Neocaridina Shrimp can live 1-2 years in perfect conditions.

Pup Loves It, Some Other Notes
Color: Orange
We've had this for about six months and my 75 lb, 14-month-old German Shepherd pup LOVES IT. Her favorite is "Crazy Bouncing Mode." In fact, she doesn't care much for the normal mode. She chews it a lot - even drops it in her water bowl at times - and it's still going strong. This is a great purchase. It's nice hands-off entertainment. Do know that it is heavy compared to a normal ball - if your pup likes dropping it on the ground like mine does, it will land with a hard "thud," even with the included sleeve. Hopefully you don't have downstairs neighbors. Also know that the cover that goes over the charging port is removable and your dog may choke on it if they chew it in just the right manner. Definitely only let the pup play with it while supervised. All in all, great toy.

A total joke.
Pattern Name: Cage Ball, Size: Large - 4 Inch / 8.5 oz
I was so hopeful and really wanted this to be as good as the sellers claimed. After all, they boast of a lifetime replacement (a joke and be sure to read the ridiculous terms lol). I have a "pocket pitty" and she loves rubber toys. There is not much I have found that can withstand her force; however, reading reviews AND seeing their warranty, I wanted to give it a try. Typically, I stick with Java wood and XL super dense knotted ropes, as that has been the only thing that can last any real amount of time. Thankfully, she never goes after our stuff or household items/furniture, just her toys. The ball arrived. I checked it over. It looked semi promising. I was hopeful. The design does allow for them to leverage their paw strength by getting it between the rubber bars and then pull with their teeth. Within 3 minutes of her having it, she already had a bar ripped off. Within 5 minutes, she had 3 bars ripped off. Don't get me wrong, she had a blast. But this is by no means strong enough for an actual aggressive chewer. Perhaps there is just not anything rubber that can handle her jaws, but now I can't get a replacement because the warranty only covers if the product is defective. It doesn't cover chewing damage (on any of their products). The advertising is very misleading so be aware. Why a replacement if she will just destroy it again you may wonder? She loves to go after a ball, but now I know she can kill this one, I keep them in a drawer and only let her play fetch with it while supervised. I will say though, I you have a puppy, I think this would be great for them as long as they are not extra large. The material has give, which is nice. But if you have a real aggressive chewer, don't waste the money.
