Fijian Panda Damsel – Chrysiptera tricincta

Overview:
The Fijian Panda Damsel is a striking and hardy marine fish with a black-and-white “panda” pattern across its body and subtle blue highlights on its fins. Active and resilient, it’s an excellent choice for both reef and fish-only aquariums.

Origin:
Native to Fijian reefs in the Indo-Pacific, often found among coral-rich lagoons and reef slopes.

Feeding:
Omnivorous – accepts marine flakes, pellets, frozen mysis, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. A varied diet enhances its coloration and vitality.

Tank Mates:
Best kept with semi-aggressive or similarly sized fish. Reef-safe with corals and invertebrates, though may defend territory in smaller aquariums.

Aggression:
Semi-aggressive – territorial tendencies are common, especially as it matures, but manageable with ample space and hiding spots.

Experience Level:
Beginner-friendly, due to its hardiness and adaptability, while requiring consideration of tankmate compatibility.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 74–80°F (23–27°C)
  • pH: 8.1–8.4
  • Salinity: 1.020–1.025
  • Minimum Tank Size: 30+ gallons

The Fijian Panda Damsel is a vibrant, durable, and lively reef fish, perfect for aquarists seeking a colorful and active addition to their marine aquarium.
