JYRO Kraken Skydiving CanopyThe JYRO Kraken Low Bulk is the original Kraken: a wingsuit focused 7 cell canopy made to pack smaller, open confidently and still fly like something you actually want to land. It was built for the awkward air behind a wingsuit, but it avoids the usual punishment of stable canopies that feel dull, flat or reluctant to glide. This version uses JYROs hybrid low bulk construction: mainly L ZP ultralight 20 denier silicone coated nylon for reduced pack
The JYRO Kraken Low Bulk is the original Kraken: a wingsuit-focused 7-cell canopy made to pack smaller, open confidently and still fly like something you actually want to land. It was built for the awkward air behind a wingsuit, but it avoids the usual punishment of “stable” canopies that feel dull, flat or reluctant to glide.
This version uses JYRO’s hybrid low-bulk construction: mainly L-ZP ultralight 20-denier silicone-coated nylon for reduced pack volume, reinforced with J-ZP in key areas such as the centre cell and powerband. The result is a canopy that can help fit a larger, more appropriate wingsuit wing into a practical rig without feeling fragile or underpowered.
Who it is for
- Wingsuit pilots who want stable heading performance and easy pack volume.
- Jumpers stepping into wingsuiting who want forgiveness without a boring canopy ride.
- Travelling jumpers and event hoppers who appreciate a compact, lower-bulk main.
- Experienced wingsuiters who still value soft openings, strong flare and efficient glide.
Flight character
The Kraken Low Bulk is designed to handle wingsuit deployments with a calm, centre-first inflation. A meshless centre-cell vent helps the canopy anchor in the burble and inflate symmetrically, while the short lineset and stable 7-cell profile help reduce line-twist drama and make twists easier to resolve if they occur.
In flight, it is more fun than a wingsuit canopy has any right to be. Toggle response is precise but forgiving, rear risers are useful for stretching a spot, and front risers can still produce dynamic movement when flown by an appropriate pilot. The flare is one of the Kraken’s headline features: strong, confidence-building and very welcome after a wingsuit jump with a spicy spot.
Design features
- Low-bulk L-ZP fabric reduces pack volume while maintaining coated-fabric durability.
- J-ZP reinforcement in critical areas helps preserve structure and longevity.
- 3D CAD design and CFD testing refine shape, turbulence behaviour and recovery.
- Powerband leading edge improves nose shape and reduces parasitic drag.
- ZZ-design loading accounts for in-flight zig-zag distortion for cleaner structure.
- Meshless centre vent supports symmetrical openings without adding mesh wear points.
- Mini-ribs sharpen the tail for better low-speed flight and landing performance.
Options and suitability
SkydiveShop currently lists sizes 119–189. JYRO recommends wing loading around 1.0–1.5. Choose your size around your real exit weight, wingsuit experience, container fit and coach/rigger guidance. If pack volume is less important than maximum fabric durability, compare this product with the Kraken ZP.
Low-bulk versus ZP Kraken
The Low Bulk version is the Kraken for pilots who care about pack volume. JYRO lists it as around 15% smaller in pack volume than a non-crossbraced 9-cell, which can make a meaningful difference when pairing a wingsuit-appropriate main with a comfortable container. It is not “delicate low bulk” in the old uncoated sense; the coated L-ZP/J-ZP hybrid is designed to keep the canopy durable and efficient.
If you jump huge numbers, pack aggressively or simply prefer a firmer full-ZP feel, compare it with the Kraken ZP. If your priority is fitting the right size wing into the rig you actually want to wear, the Low Bulk version is the magic trick.
Ordering note
Wingsuit canopy selection should be based on suit size, deployment experience, exit weight, container fit and coach/rigger advice. Do not downsize just because the Kraken is fun to fly; the whole point is predictable openings and useful performance when the air behind you is messy.
Before you order
Canopy descriptions are useful, but they do not replace a real suitability check. Your exit weight, currency, landing area, container compatibility, previous canopy history and coaching plan all matter. If you are between sizes or moving into a new performance class, get confirmation from a qualified canopy coach or rigger before placing the order. That keeps the purchase aligned with how you actually fly, not just how good the spec sheet looks.
